i don't know if you ever noticed it. But when a Studer, Philips LHH or an EMT TT is for sale at ebay.de, the buyer is always an asian.
too bad i hadn't the money, otherwise I WAS the buyer.

is getting frustrating, those Asians sell their bad stuff to the europeans and the best equipment (mostly european) they'll buy. man-o-man...

here are some pics of one of the best TT ever been made, introduced in 1951 !!!!!

actually, I tend to agree. Look at the technology currently available domestically within Japan (in terms of cell phones, notebook PC's, MD players, PDA's, etc...) and the products that are exported to north america by the same companies.

North america gets the crap. (mostly because north americans don't have the same rabid upgrade compulsion that fuels rapid product development in Japan. If we bought more brand new electronics, we'd have more state of the art gear available.)

hmm

if their equipment is that good... why do they buy the european brands??
and the equipment they buy is not made in recent years?
eg, the philips cdp is from 1985.
the EMT's are 1970 and older.

strange...

actually i sort of agree too. when i checked out some of the cell phones they have in korea, i was like "um, why didn't this hit in NYC yet?" answer was, it has - in the black market shops in korea/chinatown. want a panasonic cell th size of your thumb that can do your taxes? no prob!

lexicon, why do you keep going at it? I'm not seeing any merit in your arguments at all. It sounds like you're serious.

So, why are the europeans buying the bad stuff? Because they have bad taste?

What you say sounds offensive. There are alot of wealthy asians that like to collect old Europeans and American equipment. That's it. Just like some wealthy Europeans that collects Asian art.

well ok guys,

i'll give up.

the last thing i'll say:
search the net for the brands i named. and you will see how much the japanese, europeans love this equipment.

btw, when you are a wealthy audiophile, you will probably buy the best equipment there is.

This EMT stuff, Studer...etc, is legendary.

This is benchmark tools.

This is not the Japanese "high-end" which sell on Audiogon 2 years after release at half the price.

This EMT 927 on ebay was sold for €5,706. This is a very good price. There's one for sell around Paris at €10,000 !! And this is a 30 years old TT. When it was new it was too much expensive to buy even for the most wealthy audiophile. This stuff was made for studio and broadcast with the highest quality possible in mind. This is expensive but you don't pay for chrome, nice finish,...etc. You're paying for pure sound.

That's true Asian audiophiles are particularly smart, this is a bunch of enthusiast Japanese DIY-ers audiophiles who helped make the 300B tube a legend in the 70s.
