Need Car Amp Mono Block Suggestions

I need to replace a mono amp in my car system, to drive (1) 10" Infinity sub. I had a 90W Harmon Kardon amp the died last week (it was 20 years old). I'm looking at JL Audio's 250/1 but wonder what else I could consider that would sound good. I greatly prefer good sound over high power, I'm not entering any SPL contests, just listening to music (the way it should be heard).

You might check out the McIntosh web site. I heard a full Mc set up in a car and was really impressed. I have had the pleasure of hearing the Mark Levinson system in a Lexus; it sounded better in the LX470 than it did in the SC430 but it was still respectable.

I would get one of those mmats Class D amplifiers. They are extremely efficient, reliable, and run cool.

I'm afraid Macs will likely be too expensive. I will check out mmats, never heard of them. I'm looking to spend hopefully no more than $200, so I've been combing ebay.

Blaupunkt discontinued one of their tripath technology digital amps a while back and it was going for around $100 or so a few months ago. Plenty of power to go around, I think it was like 200w or something, and you get to play with some new tech with a fantastic reputation

Well I'm bidding on a used 3 channel Blaupunkt MPA 400us. It sounds like it will fit my needs nicely if it's a decent amp. 30x2 for the front speakers now powered by the "Acura" stock head unit, and 100x1 for the sub. This amp also has speaker level inpust to come from the stock head unit which is nice, and individual gain settings for speakers and sub. I really didn't want to go crazy. I looked at some five channel amps, then figured I'd need a better head unit, then better speakers, easily $1K-$1.5K installed...I'm sure you all know what I mean. Thanks for the suggestions - I hadn't thought of Blaupunkt.
