Extension Cable for Canalphones -- Options?

Hi,

I'm looking for a mini 1/8" male to female extension cable for my headphones and it would be VERY much appreciated if someone could give me a lay of the land sort of thing (I haven't ever looked into cables before).

Thanks so much!

EDIT: I did stumble upon this thread, but wasn't able to find someone highly experienced in the US that does this sort of stuff.

I made one just a few days ago but it was 1/4" female to 1/4" male. I used twin axial cable, and used one conductor for L R, and the shield for ground. When I first tried it, it was ok I guess. The cable sounded kinda bright and increased impedence by a bit. It also lost some sound quality. But I mean, for a few bucks, it's a pretty good deal I guess. I noticed that the cable had arrows in one direction, so I reterminated them and switched the sides. I haven't tried it out again to compare.
