Best closed headphones I had heard - very flat response, almost no midrange distortion, very easy to drive (good for portable), good soundstage (definately better than K240), good isolation, but...

Overall excellent buds, very good sound quality, especially for their price, the medium set of tips fits exactly in my ears and provides a near perfect seal. Bass is very detailed, but not...

I'll keep this very short. They are very smooth sounding. Treble toned down so not so good for rock but have a magic about them that makes them better than mark 2. I use them with a '89/'90...

Bought these on whim, for your basic train ride to work I don't mind. But its far from being the best I have own.

First, I should note that I auditioned these both straight out of the box, without any break-in time and then later after 53 hours of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite...

How old are they? The 280s headbands have a reputation for breaking.
i bought them off someone about 2-3 months ago.
in fact it was someone off this board. it was perfect when it arrived i have babied them. i did use them ALOT though.

I had the same problem...
...on my Yamaha YH-1's. Broken thin plastic - they should have used a more pliable plastic. I was going to use the headband off my daughter's SR-60's after the dog chomped them, but then I found Signet phones for a buck, and that headband worked OK. so this just happened to my 5 year old hd 280 pros, and I was pretty bummed. because I cant get another pair right away, I just cut up a baseball cap with a strong curved visor to make a curved splint, then ducktaped the pieces (2 pieces on top, 1 under) to the headband so it stays curved and strong. then I used an old cut up sweatshirt for new padding underneath and taped that around the headband too.

Ok, this is the fifth case I've seen or heard of now ~ let me guess, they broke on the left or right hinge?
