How old are they? The 280s headbands have a reputation for breaking.

I had the same problem...

...on my Yamaha YH-1's. Broken thin plastic - they should have used a more pliable plastic. I was going to use the headband off my daughter's SR-60's after the dog chomped them, but then I found Signet phones for a buck, and that headband worked OK. Maybe a custom leather shop could make you something...

so this just happened to my 5 year old hd 280 pros, and I was pretty bummed. because I cant get another pair right away, I just cut up a baseball cap with a strong curved visor to make a curved splint, then ducktaped the pieces (2 pieces on top, 1 under) to the headband so it stays curved and strong. then I used an old cut up sweatshirt for new padding underneath and taped that around the headband too.

Ok, this is the fifth case I've seen or heard of now ~ let me guess, they broke on the left or right hinge?
