ME - los or MEL - os? - Page 2

Not trying to jinx things at all. Just making sure the new people realize what the potential pitfalls are as well as the sonic bliss that the Melos preamps can offer. As long as you go in with full knowledge and your eyes wide open its all good. It just seemed to me that all the enthusiasm (and not undeserved) may have overshadowed the fact that there are warranty (or nonexistent warranty) issues that are much different with an out-of-production item. Don't get me wrong, it may not be a big concern for some. In fact my MID is no longer in production and even though McCormack still produces audio items it is a different company than the one that produced my MID. Also, like the Melos, there is an aftermarket source for repair and upgrade of my MID. So I am definitely not trying to jinx anything, just trying for "full disclosure" of all relevant issues.

good news, bad news...

I've been jinxed!!

bad news:
The Melos is down. Its clicking loudly in the left channel.

good news:
I've ordered an LW-1 passive preamp to replace it.

more bad news:
I miss the Melos sound.

More good news:
My Melos will be off to Vegas soon.

Isn't it funny how threads like this one appear regularly in all kinds of online forums? It always turns out that people have very different ideas of how even the simplest things are to be pronounced...

Exchange the "dy" in melody for an "s" and you're there. Both vowels are short, with stress on the first syllable.

Ancient Greek dictionary - I knew it would come in handy, eventually.
Hooray, that's how I pronounce it. I suppose we have more firm rules in denmark about prounounsication (whatever, you know what I mean) so I never doubted. It's always been "meh-los" not "mee - los".

Does anyone else pronounce koss this way: "Cause" ???
