people say the 0404 is better... but you will need to get new cables and plugging most headphones directly into the 0404 isnt ideal, so translation... the 0404 is a better move if you have an amp

EDIT: its helpful to you and us if you list your current setup in your post or your profile

The revo is very comparable to the Chaintech AV710, which costs only $26. You might want to make your decision based on that choice instead.

Sound quality wise, the 0404 is better than the Revo. No contest.

Yes 0404 is better.

Yes, the 0404 is better, but pricier. That's the only reason the AV710 can compete. There's just no point getting the revo considering the 0404 is better at the same price point.

What about the Revo 5.1?

Tis superior to the 7.1 (in spec/sound/DAC's etc) and cheaper.

(ie its 8ch DAC (only 6ch used) is superior to the 2ch "1/2 decent" DAC on the 7.1, but available on all channels, like the Chaintech the 7.1 has cheap poorer DAC on the additional channels, the 5.1 does not + better 2ch too boot).

all 8 channels are used on Revo 5.1.. 6 for speaker outs and 2 for headphone out, all independent.. and yes it is better than Revo 7.1..

What headphones, headphone amp, and speakers are you using?

Getting a new soundcard will not give you much if any increase in sound quality if you don't have the rest to support a good source.

I'm using porta corda and a DIY amp who's made by my friend, for headphone, I'm using K271s with zu cable and UM2, and for speaker I'm using some altec lancing ones...just for gaming tho...

btw, I'm going to DIY a cable for my Emu-0404 which hv two phono plugs and two mini jacks...so will have the same effect as a splitter~
