Do DAC's do Hi-Rez Formats?

I was wondering if a DAC like the Benchmark DAC-1 would work with a DVD-Audio player? Or any other DAC's if you can think of any.

doesn't DVD-A put out a 24/96 signal via the digital outputs ( toslink and coaxial)
I am not sure because the DV 8400 I tried was here before I bought the DAC1

DVD-A players don't output high res unless it the disc is unprotected. So the DAC supports high input, the sources/players support high res output, but the media itself is protected.

None of the DACs do SACD except the high end Meitner DACs that require their own transport also made by Meitner.

DVD-A aspect of 'high rez' people have already answered above.

One day, when I grow up, I hope to have that Meither DAC/transport combo!
