Do you think that the new EMINEM video crosses the line with mocking Michael Jackson?

i think he's a total fool, and he should be ashamed. I hope he's proud of mocking christopher reeves in his music, or saying disgusting crap about his own mom.

The only reason that fool has money, is because alot of people have no taste. He's got no class, and i refuse to listen.
Why can't he come up with some original material, rather then try and mock someone at their expense. He's a clown.

While I'm not a huge fan of rap, I personally think Eminem is a brilliant guy. He speaks his mind, whether or not anyone agrees with him. This usually results in people getting angry and demanding censorship.

Most truly good music is controversial. For example, I'm currently listening to Tool. They're a very controversial band, the singer performing in lingerie (their singer is a guy, BTW) being the least of it. Yet their lyrics are very insightful, cynical, and true.

I try not to pass off an artist as being crap just because I don't agree with them. System of a Down has awesome music, but I disagree with their political views almost 100%.

That being said, yes, he's probably in it for the money, just like most sucessful modern artists.

Funny thing is, Maynard would make a passable woman

Regarding Eminem, he is talented, but he is feasting on stepping on toes. When there are no more, he will be gone. I never liked him, but he can rhyme and speak coherently, something that most other rappers cannot attest to

I was just referring to the new video. Not views on EMINEM in general. And about the paricular kind of way MJ is being mocked.

Ah, my bad. I wouldn't know then, as I haven't seen it. I try to avoid MTV/VH1 like the plague, except for Pimp My Ride

I'm not sticking up for Eminem, but MJ sure makes for one easy target. If he did not want to be made fun of, perhaps he could not be so weird in public. I mean, sleeping with little boys, he is asking for it.

Tool is one of the few modern bands that I thoroughly enjoy. It is rare for bands of their genre to sing about anything remotely intellectual. I also find Tool to be fairly original.

I believe Eminem on the other hand sings to be controversial and make money. Controversy isn't necessarily bad. The lyrics of many Rage Against the Machine songs were very controversial, but they were written to instigate political and social change. Eminem's lyrics are controversial for the sake of controversy. Controversy draws attention and that is what he feeds off of (besides for the money it also brings him). I have heard many of Eminem's songs on the radio and have found a few of them to be catchy, but that is it. After a few times hearing them I have no desire to hear them again. I have not seen the new Eminem video, nor have I heard it's song. Honestly I don't care to.

Who cares about Eminem? Haven't we seen this kind of "musician" before? Look at Madonna, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Britney Spears, Christina Agulera... whether or not they have talent, they gain prominence in the mass media due to the controversy that comes along with them. People like Ozzy were just being their insane self and became famous for it, while others like Eminem go out of their way to gain infamy and record sales.

I think Michael Jackson is a moron just begging to be mocked, and if Eminem is the one to do it, then so be it (not that I care much for Eminem). It is not like SNL, Simpsons, and many others have not mocked MJ before. I did not see the whole video, but what I did see was not oeverly offensive, certainly not compared to some of Eminem's past efforts. If Michael Jackson did not want things like this to happen to him, he should have just stayed in his mansion, alone, and out of the spotlight, for good. Every time he goes out in public he jsut makes more and more a fool of himself.

I'm gonna step in here and defend Eminem as the best rapper ever. Sure he's a dickwad and says a lot of really messed up stuff but as far as the *skill*
involved in rap, he's the best.

Personally the only time I've been offended by Eminem was in a line from the song "My Dad's Gone Crazy":

"More pain inside of my brain than in the eyes of a little girl inside of a plain, aimed at the world trade."

Not mocking anyone, not grandstanding, this seems like he truly believes his life is THAT bad.

eminem is a horrible mc

he has copied (not learned and interpeted) so many rappers that it is shameful.

his battle style is like Ikon's, his flow picks up the early 90's east coast stutter, and he sings about stupid stuff.

his beats are all uncreative and sound like everything else that came out of the dr. dre factory.
