Best closed headphones I had heard - very flat response, almost no midrange distortion, very easy to drive (good for portable), good soundstage (definately better than K240), good isolation, but...
Overall excellent buds, very good sound quality, especially for their price, the medium set of tips fits exactly in my ears and provides a near perfect seal. Bass is very detailed, but not...
I'll keep this very short. They are very smooth sounding. Treble toned down so not so good for rock but have a magic about them that makes them better than mark 2. I use them with a '89/'90...
First, I should note that I auditioned these both straight out of the box, without any break-in time and then later after 53 hours of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite...
Or, if you want, an alternative is to try to sell those 650s, then buy HD 555s, or 595s or 600s, and get a cheaper amp that will work better with them...
So, you're telling this guy to sell Sennheiser's flagship dynamic headphone? Riiight...
I have to say I'm pretty impressed w/ the portable Headroom amps w/ the HD6000/650. My TBH drives them well and when I don't go directly from the HR2 to the TBH they really sound very good. I think a reasonable portable like that can ultimately have a long term use after a subsequent upgrade in a "home" system.

The new Gilmore Lite gets my vote. Forward midrange would really put some clarity/excitement into the Senn. Cheaper than a PPA and better IMO. I love the speed and blackness between notes of the Gilmore. No mud or smearing here. I would avoid PiMeta/Meta42 class amp though. I found them no better than onboard pro-sumer soundcard amps when I had my Senn 600.
a portable amp from headroom will do the job well. The airhead is $149. These will get you to 90% of a big budget amp. Obviously don't try to run them out of a compact disc player or ipod.
