Pelican cases?

Can anyone recommend which model Pelican case might be most suited to carry AKG K501, portable amp, maybe a few short cables (average, not garden-hose thickness cables) and a couple of 9V batteries?

Or if a better suggestion than a Pelican case, that's good too.

Oh, well . . . never mind. I think I've found the answer. It looks as though the Pelican 1400 -- $50.95 at B&H (bhphotovideo.com) -- should fit the AKG K501 with room for a mini portable, PSU, batteries & maybe short cable(s). I'll go see this week and find out for sure.

The B&H price for the 1400 seems lower than other prices I've found so far, including ebay, and also the Otterbox 6500 (equivalent) which seems to sell for more than this!

Hope this info helps someone else who may be doing a similar search.

Get the Pelican over the Otterbox. It has a more durable, rubberized (for lack of better word) body than the Otterbox does. a/b'ed them last week and would easily choose the Pelican over the Otterbox, even if it was a few bucks more...

By the way -- I forgot to ask: which model Pelican did you choose and for what component(s)? And do you have any comments on the fit, etc.?

Good gosh, Pelican cases are built to more than just last. Some government divisions use Pelican cases to carry their rifles!

and medical equipment, and communication gear, and high end audio/video gear.

I think I had the 1400 or 1300 (can't quite remember), I honestly didn't need something that heavy duty, but man those things are just tuff!

I am a scuba diver and I can tell you that you can't beat Pelican cases if you're taking anything important near water!

I use my pelican to carry my portable telescope rig, very very nice equipment.

I use my Pelican 1040 Micro Case to carry my Cowon D2+ & Audio Technica CK7 canalphones. Pelican cases are attractive & tough as hell! Definitely built to last a long long long time! I paid like $18 includes shipping/handling for mine i believe off ebay.

I use a modified pelican 1060 for DIYMOD->VCAP->D10 and plug IEMs in on the outside through the pressure release valve which is drilled out to accomodate a female mini jack. will also fit iriver D10 IEMs or DIYMOD->low profile Blackgate LOD-> Lisa III. very good stuf., they are unbreakable. i'm planning on getting a larger one for my D2000

Once you figure out which model and size Pelican you need, do an advanced web search for special deals and close outs. I used to buy a lot of Pelican cases for my astronomy gear. A few times I got the case by buying something else on ebay that happeed to have a Pelican case with it.

I case my headphones in softside lunchboxes.

Pelican micro for my sleek customs and sansa clip, just perfect size wise, i can cram my s9 in there but it's a tight fit.
