What's your favorite anime movie?

I'd like to know what everyone's favorite anime movie is. That way if there are some good ones out there that I've missed I can be sure to check them out. Please try and list the genre that it would fall into as well.

Mine is Perfect Blue, directed by Satoshi Kon. (http://www.perfectblue.com)
I would consider this one to be a Thriller.

Grave of the Fireflies made me cry like a 3 year old

Mononoke is up there.

If you like perfect blue, I suggest his other two movies - both Toyko Godfathers and Millenium Princess can be found on Netflix!

And a second on the Miyazaki films like Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. If you liked that film, check out Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, Laputa (Castle in the Sky), Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, the list goes on. Studio Ghilbi is a great company.

I'm generally not a big fan of the anime movies. Instead I'm a big collector of anime TV series (and long OAVs), which have more room for character development.

I do really like "Princess Mononoke", so that's probably my favorite anime movie. It's certainly my favorite of the Ghibli films I've seen so far (about 7 total). Also, I like the "Read or Die" OAV, which consists of 3 episodes that end up watching like a movie when viewed back-to-back, so not sure if that counts. I also loved the End of Evangelion movie and the 2nd Card Captor Sakura movie, but one needs to have seen the 26 and 70 TV episodes for those series beforehand.

Ghost in the Shell and Akira are must see titles if you haven't seen them already. Also check out Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade, done by the same creators of GITS.

I am more of an OVA fan, but spirited away was probably my favorite.

Ninja Scroll is definitely up there, though.

Is your avatar from Galaxy Angel, or am I way off base (very possible)?

Heh, I don't think I've ever watched an episode of Galaxy Angel sober. For some reason your avatar made me think of it, doh'!

Sweet! Haven't seen Toyko Godfathers or Millenium Princess yet. All the others recommended on this thread I have seen and most definently enjoyed. I have that sweet Studio Ghibli collection pack, its like 9 DVDs.

Speaking of series I just flew through Trouble Chocolate this past week, it was a fun series, I'm sad that it was only 20 episodes though. Also went thru Gasaraki a couple weeks ago, which was quite good but I wasn't really satisfied with the ending.

Just did a search on galaxy angel on animenfo , that is ONE long series.

Now off to go watch GitS2 , not a big fan of the original, but even if it does suck.. it's eye candy at least ..

I just enjoy all the "popular" stuff. Princess Mononoke, Ghost In The Shell, Spirited Away. My all time favorite is Akira.

My least-favorite anime has to be Fist Of The North Star, which I have a copy of on Betamax. The real-life movie was worse though I guess.

I'm going to get bashed for this one, but I really liked the Escaflowne movie. It grew on me after about 3 viewings. I liked Akira right off the bat. The first GiTS also grew on me after a while. Metropolis was interesting but the art bothered me too much. Porco Rosso is my favorite miyazaki, though I think my favorite Ghibli is Yamadas. The Hajime no Ippo movie and OVAS were fabulous but you have to watch the series before watching them. My favorite series is Berserk followed by Bebop for serious drama, but Ippo is probably #1 for all around.

Hmm, I think I sold my Pblue. I'm sure there's a copy floating around out there with my name on it...
