Before and after pics - CURSE YOU HEAD FI! - Page 368

I been waiting for this update for a few weeks already. My t-amp started hissing a lot when turning volume and I just wanted some new cool toy. I decided to look for vintage receivers since I always liked how they look. I found this beautiful Sony STR-7025 on Craigslist and paid only $30!!! It is in GREAT shape so it only needs a quick clean up. Here are some pics

(Red light is from my computer case, not the receiver)

That tuner was $30?! And in fantastic condition too! CONGRATS. I love the way vintage tuner looks as well, especially in the dark when the display lights up. It's really too bad all the radio stations in my country are... well, you know.

craigslist RULES. getting vintage receivers for pennies, there's no better feeling. in fact today i craigslisted a nice trio of things...nah won't bother Curse updating for these - a nice midi keyboard, a USB interface for audio stuff, and best of all finally the RIGHT chair to play the guitar in, a teak mini-throne (no arms to it, most important) - all for a song!

No wrong, It's a receiver for only $30.00, meaning he gets a preamp and poweramp in the mix too. Sweet unit Mr.Slacker! Congrats!

I recently got a vintage Pioneer tuner in a trade. It's in great shape except for the wood, but I just received the Bloodwood for all new custom woodwork. I should have some pics in a week or so.

Steve, before seeing the casing of the Sony, I was seriously considering talking to you about making a nice new case for it. But I think I'll just clean it up with some wood cleaning/polishing products.

You gotta post some pics of the Pioneer that you got!

Well after 30min of work, I have everything hooked up. I originally wanted to put it on the left where my DAC and amp is, but my speaker cable is not long enough so for now it will be on my desk. I really like the sound so far.

I had an almos identical Sony receiver when I was younger, and I loved the lush sound -- until mine blew up. Probably a mismatch with the "speakers I used with it: 2 huge Fender bass speakers! Ha! My Sony might have been a 7050, but I don't remember.

Your setup is really getting pumped. The Curse is strong with you, young Luke.

Some nice clean up and wood treatment and the wood should take on a lovely satiny sheen.

Enjoy in good health!

Yeah, but how many can say thew blew it up by playing it through 2 humongous Fender bass guitar speakers?

'Twas my own personal audio demolition derby [boom]
