Mulveling, you are right, you should stick with the Glider probably with the arm you have. Plus, just think of all the fun you can have telling people you have a Nude cartridge!
I've lusted after a nice Koetsu (Rosewood, Black, Urushi…and now Coralstone) for years -- and no funds to match my craving … yet. One never knows. Anyway, it's nice to have a dream … a vision … and always something to look forward to (while enjoying what I have now).

And man … don't those 2 objets d'art above look beautifully sculptural? Love that stone.

Everything I have heard about Koetsu's just says I NEED ONE. Plus, just think how cool a Koetsu Rosewood would look on my turntable:

I really don't want to build another vinyl collection, but I really want to find a nice TT that I can build a custom plinth for. I'm certain that means the sickness has taken complete control of me.

Pfff, I got home from work today to find my wife was out for the night so I whipped this little ditty together.

We've all got issues, Steve.

Awesome TT!! And I have the Gingko Cloud 11 myself - HIGHLY effective product.

Congrats.

Nice vinyl rig. What cart are you using with the Scout. How do you like the Bottlehead Seduction phono? I have a CI VPP-1/VAC-1 at the moment. I think jp nums suggested the Bottlehead.

I am tempted to buy a HD600 right now.

Congrats.
thanks.
i am using it with my P3 until i can get some stuff for the VPI (protractor, VTF scale, and the little washers for between the headshell and the cartridge screws) and i do agree it alone is a night and day difference in playback.

the seduction has been doing VERY well for me. i have a couple mods done to it, namely: film cap in PSU and C4s. it runs QUIET. with the tonearm parked in the rest on my P3, running your fingernail on the finish is louder than the phono stage. after that its all the tubes you use. quieter tubes are totally worth the money.

at the moment i have a nude Denon DL-103 (standard $200 variant) and a DIY MC transformer. i doubt i will be upgrading the cart for a while even though it is a pretty crappy match for the vpi arm (compliance dosnt "agree" with the arm). i simply have NO money to buy a better cart. someone is selling a record collection near me, i think im going to buy it before the new cartridge.

The DL103 is an excellent cartridge. I understand your point about the compliance mismatch, but I think that *can* be overblown. Try it and see what you think. The DL103 sounds trylu amazing for it's price. I have never tried one "nude", but the stock one I have in my second system's turntable sounds very, very good.

When you are ready, though, I recommend a Benz for the VPI. I had a buddy who bought an Aries and put a Grado Statement on it, and it was nothing but trouble. I talked him into a Benz, and it was pure bliss. Great match.
