Tried gently rolling over last night with the ety's in/on and didn't get far. Don't see how anyone could pull it off unless they're freakish with the ear canal size. Besides, why risk damage to cables on these phones?

Yeah, ETYS and sleep=no good & big pain.
I used to fall asleep w/ my e2cs no problem.
But they don't sound as good.

Never tried the tri flange, but out of all the included tips, I like the clear flex sleeves. The opening on them is slightly larger than on the gray soft flex sleeves, so you're less likely to block the opening if you sleep on your side. I move around a lot when I sleep, so I had a lot of trouble with sound cutting out when I moved my head.

LOL Jasper that happens to me all the time! I get quite paranoid about somehow damaging them now =/

Have you ever tried sleeping with the E5s?

After my first night with the er4... have since learnt never to roll my head with them in

I own a pair of ER4P and I have to tell you that you must NOT go to sleep wearing them. One reason is that as Edwood said it hurts your ears, the other is that because it is such a small and lets face it flimsy item you can easily destroy the cord or even seperate the cord from the drivers. Personally I think going to sleep with headphones are good but problematic.

yeah, if you lie on your back the whole night when you sleep you really wont have problems with most headphones. But has anyone thought, if you left the music there the whole night, your ears are still substaining damage to the volume but you arent even enjoying the music for more than 10-20 minutes. Thats why I usually just use speakers and have it play a few songs and stop. I dont really think exceptional quality is required when listening to music before you sleep since you're just trying to enjoy the music and let it put you to sleep.

Enzo has a very good point here -- it's probably the best way besides using a pillow speaker. The problem here is that I live in a dorm so playing music on speakers, however softly, would be quite inconsiderate for my roomie. Also, people here have a tendency to party until various hours, so if I went to sleep at 3, someone could come stumbling home with their buddied/buddettes at 4 and wake the hell out of me. Enzo's argument along with my worry of somehow damaging the E5Cs prevents me from doing anything about it though...

I guess I better cherish the life at home while I still can eh?

I used to use the EX70's a couple years ago for listening to music while in bed.. for a couple nights until my cat found the rather thin cables and decided to chew them off
