Sleeping with Etys

I need a good set of headphones to sleep with. I drift off sometimes with my beyers...but sooner or later Ill turn my head to the side, well try to...
So I figured what about an in ear option? I've heard good things about Etys, especially the ER-6. Should I futher indulge my habit and purchase these, are they comfortable enough to forget you have them in. Would they prohibit sleeping? What about other in ear phones, all I really hear about is the Etys. I could definately live with getting the ER-6s, theyre not too expensive at all. All I need is some input.

Fire at will!

(Oh yeah, I'm a bit of a basshead too )

Thanks!

EDIT: The Ety ER-4s doesn't look too shabby either, are they that much better to warrant an extra 200 bucks?

I use to sleep with the er-6s in my ear. Forgot they were there. But that's because I put them pretty deep in my ear, although they did fall out sometimes when I was asleep. Your results may vary, they may be uncomfortable and noticeable for your ears, or they may stick out too much. Soundwise, the er-4 is much, much better. BTW, you can get the er-4 for around $189 new. (never tried sleeping with them, but my cousin does, but he doesn't really turn to his side in bed, he says). Er-4s stick out a lot. Try our sponsors headroom (has a 30 day trial) or idealsound to get a good price on any etymotic phone. (ask em for a price quote, the price they show is just for legal purposes).

Unless you have a doughnut shaped pillow with a hole in it, I think that all Inner Ear Monitors are a bad idea. Especially the Etys. Worst one is Ety Er4's. The are pretty rigid and really hurt when they get pushed into your ear canal sides, which would happen if you roll on your side when sleeping.

Have you tried those "memory foam" pillow like Tempurpedic brand?

They will probably mold to the ety's better and probably push less than a standard pillow.

Also, I might add that "basshead" and "Ety" generally don't get along.

Blast...So am I doomed to sleeping with speakers playing at night? Are there any soft in-ear headphones?

You may be a candidate for the Sony EX51/71. They're suppost to be very small and comfortable for sleeping with and they certainly deliver bass in good quantities (though it is a bit muddy).

I've got a tempurpedic pillow and they do conform to shapes, but very slowly. It'll actually transmit more force to your ear when you turn your head and the outer tip comes in contact with the pillow. To see what I mean, try slapping a conventional pillow and then a tempurpedic pillow. The latter will feel much more solid. I know you're not likely to hit the pillow like that with your ear, but it does demonstrate that conventional pillows give faster.

I sleep with the E2's sometimes. I can sleep on my side with them with no problem. The funny thing is I toss and turn so much in my sleep they're never still in in the morning.

I sleep with e3c. They're comfortable and don't stick out a lot. I sleep without a pillow and on my side if you want a point of reference.

I sleep with Ety 4's. N.B., I don't move much in my sleep. So what I do is position my head in such a way that I am comfy and then that is that! I stay in that position until I wake up...usually a few after I went to sleep and I take out the phones and go back to sleep. Never a problem, though I admit, I would prefer a less complicated means of phones+sleep. The Sensaphonic 2xp whatever they are (too lazy to look them up) with soft molds may be the way to go for bed time for me. Pricey for sleepy time phones.

Sleeping with your headphones!?! You people are PERVERTED!!!!

Rolling over while sleeping with Ety's in the ear can result in some serious ear-impaling pain, in my experience. Just watch out.

No. Having dreams about trying out different headphones and sources is perverted.
