Audioengine A2 vs Edifier R2000BT

Well,  I want to buy new speakers, for music listening, and use nearfield, The best option I have are the Edifier R2000BT, mainly because of the 5" woofer, however  where I live I can´t hear them before buying.  My son has the  Audioengine A2,  that are my reference in audio quality. So, I would like to know, from someone who has heard them both, preferably,  how they compare to each other .

Any help will be wellcome !

I've heard the A2 and they're a good example for why you shouldn't use port tuning to overcompensate for what should be achieved with driver size first and then just a little bit more from the port (save for gigantic transmission line enclosures with fullrange drivers, but then you can't really use these on a desk). So on that count I'd sooner gamble on the Edifier even if I haven't heard them.

However if easy product support is important to you then I'd skip the Edifier. Do you have local HiVi dealers? If you do then check if they have the D1080-Mkwherever the hell they're at now I already lost track of it or the M200A or M200B.

An alternative would be the KRK Rokit 5 or Rokit 6, since these are widely distributed pro monitors that are actually better suited for home users for the slightly warmer sound, but you're need an external preamp to control them. Even a Schiit Sys can work though so that's just another $50.

Thanks for your answer, ProtegeManiac !

Well, where I live there´s only Edifier dealers. So, I don´t have much choice...

Well even if you can't listen to them, but the dealers are there anyways, you'd still have local product support since I assume you won't be importing them from another country, so they're not at a disadvantage in that regard vs Audioengine (unless the Edifier distributor is a total PITA, but you likely won't know this until you have to deal with them anyway). Might as well try the Edifier given they have the driver size advantage.
