I don't want to build straight cord for it since I am not good with tools. Is there a cheap extension cord that I can use that will give me a little more lenght with out having the stretch the coiled cord to full lenth. I would like an extension that will do the dt250 some justice. I don't want to degrade the sound. Also what length of extension can I use that would be hard to notice sonicly, if I was to compair the sound with and then without the extension.

Try a Grado extension cord. They come in 10 or 15' lengths I think for around $30 and shouldn't noticeably degrade the sound.

Tom,
I recall that there is a straight replacement cord for the DT 250 available from Beyerdynamic. But I am not absolutely sure. You could email Jan Meier about this.

Tom,

Did you ever find out about a replacement cable? I'm also interested.

I don't think there is a noncoiled replacement cord.

I called around and e-mailed everyone I could think of including the people a meyers audio. No one has heard of a replacement for the beyers that is not coiled.
