Portapro2 better than Grados sr60?! - Page 2

I think the SR-60s sound much better than the PP2s, but that's just me :-).

midrange and bass are presented more realistically with the SR-60s, imo.

Porta Pros possess the same drivers as the PP2s and sound the same...the PP2s just removed one of the adjustments you could make with the headband/cup positioning.

whoops, I should have checked my message....
I meant to say..the grados are BETTER than portapros with an amp.
I don't think the ipod has enough power to drive the grados as well
as the portapros. So for my purposes the portapros are better.
But the more I listen to different headphones, the more I realize how one
sound can get boring and to have headphones that compliment each other can be a good, but expensive, thing.

sr60 requires an amp to sound its best while the porta pros sound about the same out of everything hehe.

Biggie.

Technically true. However the difference between amped and unamped SR-60's is pretty slim.

No it isn't. I'm very suprised on how well the sr60 scales on my expensive tube amp.

Biggie.

I should probably rephrase that. I saw almost no difference myself when using my SR60's out of my portable source with and without a 2004 TAH. You start throwing high end stuff at it, maybe that's different (I believe you), but I have a feeling meesha isn't refering to equipment of the caliber that you stated.

The SR60s are source dependent so you're both right.

Some people don't like Grado sound. Some people don't like chocolate. It's a matter of taste.

Meesha, enjoy the Portapros. You might want to try an experiment before you sell the SR60s. Do me a favor and listen ONLY to the SR60s for the next 2 weeks. If the Portapros still sound better after that, then you've made the right decision.
