iTunes doesn't like Hail to the Thief? - Page 2

I tried for ages to get EAC to copy my canadain version of HTTT and failed each and every time, error correction kept timing the process out. One day i was adding a few other discs to my collection ,threw in the same copy of HTTT without thinking about it, and low and behold, it worked.

bloody copy protecting wanks.

Ok, this is bit strange. After reading this thread I went and tried to rip it again. It was an identical process expect this time I compressed to FLAC instead of APE, but that wouldn't be the problem because I used to do it a bit inefficiently, ripping the wav and then compressing, and the wavs I ripped before had skips. Anyway, I can't hear any more problems at all, the disc ripped fast and EAC reported no errors. Not sure what happened.

Update: I think I know what did it. I used to use an Acer cd-rw drive, this time I ripped using an LG DVD+/-R/RW +RAM drive. Certain drives must do better than others.

I managed to rip my 'copy protected' CD this week. After failing with EAC on Windows I tried Grip on Linux and it worked with no problems.

I'm fairly sure I had disabled auto-run on Windows as I hear some CDs can install stuff without telling you. I hate anyone messing with my PC.

Obviously this is purely for my own use.
