The Porta-Corda drives the HD580/600 fine. The Corda HA-1 doesn't work on batteries but sounds quite a bit better than the Porta-Corda. The HD600 sounds a little better than the HD580, but the difference is quite small IMO. As far as the math goes, PC+600 < HA1+580. Unfortunately this goes for the price as well as the sound.

Hmm... Do you know the difference in sound between the porta and the headamp with the 580/600? If I buy the HA1 I will be sacrificing portability and more money... But for how good sound?

You're saying the Porta does fine with the 580/600... Is that with the batteries?

Sounds like you're hyperventillating!! Stick your head in a paper bag for a while!

When you come back to your senses, simply send Jan at Meier Audio an email;

"Please help me. I must have a Porta Corda with HD600's for portability AND a Corda HA1 for home use. What kind of deal can we make? Please hurry, I'm suffering!"

BTW, If you opt for the 580's, you'll always wonder if your missing something and kick yourself for not getting the 600's!
