the output is almost the same as x5ii

Thank you, James!

This is reassuring to hear since the large voltage swing of X5ii is one of it's really great features!

how big is the difference between them? I am currently using FIIO X5ii but I am not very impressed with the sound...Hopefully it is a massive upgrade

What did you dislike on X5ii? I found it amazing, if not the best standalone DAP I have ever laid my paws upon

If you're looking for a smooth signature, either X3ii or X7 might suit a smooth preference

I don't find the UI very user-friendly. Also I always feel like the sound coming out from x5ii is a bit dull, maybe I am getting used SONY signature (been using sony mp3/4 for 5 years)

But let's see people's review and decide on this new amp. Look way better IMO

The more I read up on this player, the more eager I am to hear it. On paper, the X5iii is quite the achievement. Well-done, FiiO!

Sony DAPs tend to have DSP and other effects altering the sound, unless you deliberately switch them all off (which many people don't).

Some companies screw people to achieve short-term success.

Some companies serve people to achieve longterm success.

Thankfully, Fiio fit into the second category.

Comment 1: Light Harmonic
Comment 2: Fiio

I'm torn right now. I recently got my hands on a FiiO X5 gen 2, and I don't know if I should keep it, or return it for the 3rd gen...Ah the decisions. I don't really need a touchscreen or wifi, but bluetooth wouldn't be bad (though I don't really need it either tbh). I'm wondering if the DAC is a big enough improvement to warrant a return of the 2nd gen.

more storage, balanced jack, dual ak4490 dacs, quick charge function...return it!

Haven't heard one yet so I cannot say anything about this.

But the neutral and tight sound of X5ii was the magic of it. Tight :D
ah icic. I once have all fiio daps until I sold all of them as there are better daps elsewhere like Opus, LP5, I5 :p
