question for the DIYers

I'm just curious, I have several pairs of powered PC speakers. Any idea what kind of amp circutry is used in these things? Most have headphone jacks. Couls these be modified and placed in a different box to make a portable headphone amp?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

The best box to put most of these amps in is the round one under the bench!

Seriously, they are usually pretty disgusting in terms of noise, hum & distortion. For a portable amp, just knock up a Cmoy or similar on stripboard, it'll be LOTS better.
