Price is 1199 yuan which is around USD 173. Comes with a one silicone case. I have to check with a couple of vendors because not all of them are including the silicone case with the purchase of the M1s.

There is a separate Aune promotion going on that you will receive a complimentary silicone case (choice between red, blue and grey) and one VE Monk Plus balanced earphone if you post pictures and write about your M1s, but I believe it is applicable only for China.

I've also ordered balanced cables with 2.5 mm TRRS for my IE80. Very interested to try out the balanced output of the M1s after hearing all the positive feedback on this thread.

Will report back after I have the chance to try them out.

This promotion is available on Head-Fi too.

Can they ship directly to the US or through some proxy forwarding service? Thanks!

The AUNE M1s at Penon comes with a free silicone case (only gray color for now).  New colors will be available by the 20th as per their rep.

@Niyologist, I suggest that you try contacting their FB rep and see if you can order the gray silicone case.  Otherwise, you can try waiting until the 20th to get other colors, which will come at approximately $10 each.

Awesome!  You also got your M1s from them?  I just ordered the bundle yesterday.  Added the iBasso CB12 balanced cable for my IT03 so I could try with the M1s.

Do you mean this promotion on Head-Fi?

http://www.head-fi.org/t/831686/aune-m1s-32bit-384k-dsd128-dap-available-for-pre-order-now-check-out-the-special-gifts#post_13159481

The promo on Head-Fi is slightly different from the one I mentioned in my post. This Head-Fi promo comes with three silicone cases (red, blue, grey), 2 screen protectors and the VE Monk Plus at the price of USD 249. I believe the complimentary items will be shipped together with the purchase of the M1s.

The promo I mentioned earlier is from the Chinese section of the Aune website. It comes with one silicone case, 2 screen protectors and the VE Monk Plus. The items are only claimable after the purchase of the M1s and shipped separately. To claim for the items you need to post pictures and write about the M1s you have purchased, and contact Aune with the link to your posting, the serial number of your M1s, etc.

Sorry I'm not familiar with shipping items from Tabao directly to the US. I stay in Asia.

When buying from Taobao, I prefer to use a forwarding service rather than direct shipping. I find it easier to keep track of the items I buy from different vendors, and I can save on combined shipping when I consolidate them to one package to ship out.

The forwarding service I usually use is 4PX, and it is selectable within Taobao website when you check out your items. Even if I am buying just one item I would choose the forwarding service, as I find the shipping cost is comparable or even lesser than if the vendor ships direct to me.

Hope this helps!

Yeah. I purchased the M1S from there.

Thread Starter
In earlier posts, I've mentioned a few nitpicks I have with the M1s. Rest assured Aune is hard at work fixing them. In fact, the only one they're not working on yet (that I'm aware of) is gapless. But there are FW-level fixes in the works to make it easier to scan vs skip through songs, eliminate the split-second cutoff at the beginning of songs, increase file and folder count limits, and add an idle shutdown timer to help preserve battery life.

Super nice job @AuneAudio!

Awesome news.

I keep meaning to put up s'more impressions, but it basically boils down to, "Sounds absolutely incredible."

Hey sorry missed your reply to my post, I realize that I chose my words poorly, I meant balanced in terms of balancing the sound signature of the Aune M1S, not that I ran the IE80 balanced. I ran the IE80 with stock cable. I personally didn't like the IE80 as I said before so I don't know how much I can help you in figuring out how it would sound to you.

Hey no worries at all   I was reading too quickly as well and skipped a word or two and misunderstood what you said.

In the end, I went ahead to order balanced cables for my IE80, as I got really curious to try out the balanced output of the M1s after hearing the positive feedback. Still quite new to the head-fi world, and the IE80s are the only iem I have at the moment with the possibility to swap out the cables to balanced. This is my first first time trying balanced audio

Should be receiving the cables next week. If going balanced brings improvement to the sound, I will spring for some balanced cables for my Hifiman HE400i so I can use them balanced with the M1s as well.

What are the other earphones/headphones have tried with the M1s that you enjoyed and think would make a good pairing? Do you think a high impedance iem would pair well with the M1s, or it works better with lower impedance iems?

Just thought I would share some quick impressions of this great little player

I have had for a week now have taken it away on holiday just to get some time with it

When it arrived it had the shipped 1.0 firmware installed - I have updated this to 1.022

For those who download the latest firmware from the Chinese website - I found there is 2 versions of the firmware when you down load it- a version 1.22 and a version 1.023

The difference between the 2 appears to be that on 1.022 the gain or volume level can go higher than on the 1.0 or 1.023 version

For me the strengths of this player is

  • It has a very simple and easy to use interface
  • The boot time is very fast - similar to the Aune M2
  • It has the ability to drive some demanding headphones - I was able to play my HD600 to good effect with the new firmware
  • The balanced out put  does seems to have more power - comparing the SE output with a pair of Yamaha HPH200 and then with a balanced pair  of the same headphone on the balanced output had a definite difference in volume for the same volume setting - to my ears there was also an improvement in the sound stage and bass response as well in balanced mode

I only had a couple of pairs of in ear headphones to try - but the Kef M200 sounded very good on the player and these can be quite demanding to drive to good levels

When switching to my Phonon SMB02 headphones there was the same good synergy that I experienced with Aune M2 - unfortunately I did not bring the M2 to do a direct comparison but plan to do this as soon as I can

I have only had a chance to compare this player to a couple I have with me - the Fiio X5ii, sony A15 and the AK JR - in terms of sound quality I found the AK JR and the M1s to be very similar in tone and with good quality Flac files to be my preferred choice over the A15 and X5ii

I did notice that the m1s did not respond well to lower quality MP3 files - something the A15 and fiio X5ii seem to handle well - perhaps due to the slightly less detail in the highs and the slightly enhanced bass these players have to my ears

In terms of what could be improved

  • The player did not ship with any case or protective cover - although i believe they will be in the future
  • My player had a loose screw or something floating around on the inside - have not opened up to check yet but hopefully quality control will be good for others
  • The buttons on the front and side while effective do appear slightly loose - the longer term reliability could be a concern here
  • A digital out would be nice
  • For its price it has much fewer features than other players in the same price range - I am not convinced that sound quality alone justifies the price vs features you get

Based on my initial impressions this is a very good mid level DAP - While I have not done a direct comparison with my M2 yet - My feeling is the M2 is more to my liking  and I prefer the design - I just wish the M2 had a balanced output as the M1s appeared to drive my HD600 easier to higher volume levels when using a balanced cable.

As always the secret is finding the right synergy with any player and headphone combination that suits your own personal preference

Does anyone know where to get this micro tactile switch?
The volume down button sunk in just after a few clicks.
I just got mine delivered today and I can only use it now with an amp. frown.gif

I opened it up and found that the 2 tiny plastic pegs holding it in place broke.

May I ask if the official package comes with screen protector?

Yes, mine came with 2 screen protectors in the Aune box.

...excited...I should be getting a unit to try out soon...particularly interested in how balanced feels. Its usually an improvement in my experience.
