So I have a Sony HAP S1.Ive never been super impressed with the internal DAC in it,however they just dropped a firmware update allowing for an external DAC to be used via USB.The only Caveat is that the DAC must not do oversampling(NOS)

Any of the Schiit DACs fit this bill?

Or can anyone recommend a different, affordable NOS DAC?

The only NOS DAC from a known brand that I can think of from the top of my head is this one:

AFAIK Schiit does not have NOS DACs in their lineup.

thanks for that,i contacted Schiit but they havent gotten back to me as of yet...would be nice if they did as I can get a nice discount from them too.

Will check out your link.

If anyone else cares to chime in please do.

From that link you provided:

"Concept of DAC BOX S FL is based on the original format of the Audio-CD, (which means 16bit and 44,1 kHz) with a maximum transmitted audio frequency of 20kHz. "

im interpreting that as meaning it will not support 24/96 or 24/192,which wont work for me....or am I not reading this correctly?

I have a Teradak tda 1543 V3.1D I am planning on selling. It is NOS and supports up to 96K/24bit rates. I bought and would sell my version for much cheaper than the asking price in the amazon link.

Thanks for all the responses thus far......I have to admit though Im pretty up to speed on headphones, when it comes to DACs however,i might as well have joined this site yesterday....

That being said I received this email today from Schiit support:

"All of the multi-bit DACs are NOS at 176.4 and 192.

Schiit Tech"

I know Schiit products are quite popular around here, heck I have a little Magni Uber 2 for my computer, but I know as much as Jon Snow about their DACs.

Can anyone comment on Schiit DACs vs. others mentioned here?
