My exp : a fact about the Zu Mobius Sennheiser Replacemt cable

I experienced the zu sennheiser replacement cable with hd650 for quite a while now and what i can say for sure it's the best cable i tried ( i tried the stock , Cardas , Silver dragon )
why ?
Becuase it's the most open to the source . It deliver everything is in the source . It grabs the most of the things from the signal arriving and open/upfront them to your ears .

But my real focus with this thread is : Zu buyer be aware becuase the Zu , while opening and musicaling so much the good setup to your ears , is surely going to cut your ears down on a low source / low budget setup.
It really need the best to work ,then it shows to be the best

If the soruce/amp combination gives out not a very defined / quite perfect sound but they rather gives a melted frqs. signal , then the Zu can open and upfront the flaws (distortions many time ) of the source/amp and distract your ears from pleasure .

This cearly happened to me , and it happened also the SD and the Cardas didn't do it where the ZU did

So you like the Zu, but you need a high quality source? Is that what you're getting at?

Yeah, I think that's the general idea. I had a hard time understand a lot of the sentences though.

boodi,

i tend to agree with you. I recently moved over to SD from mobius, though i wasnt having any problems at all with my sources (as well as the other ones i've used with it). As the SD breaks in, i do find it a bit less open, but the high end and treble energy does sound a bit more highlighted and smooth. It's not as neutral to me as the mobius was, but i like it alot for other reasons.

I'm not sure which i like better, yet i'm pretty sure the SD is broken in well enough to take it for what it is.

The trouble is when you can't decide which one you liked more,t hey are both great cables. The mobius is more revealing though i think as well.

it's so much cooler looking than the stock cord
well anyway if you're going for HD-650/Zu you owe it to yourself to get a decent source (+amp). Otherwise you're wasting your money...

..the Mobius reveals the very good setup becuase amplify all and upfront this . And reveals really the distortion , the un-perfection and un-harmony of the sound signal .

For the two having trouble with my thread , my point was the exp. i had buying the Zu

I bought the Zu on the hype that there was here in the forum ,

When it came , the Zu sounded worse then the stock cable on my previous gear , this is not a joke . I was feeling very bad for having read so much beautiful things on the Zu and having spent 250$ in the end for downgrading a lot the sound .
It really was bad when I heard the stock cable making things out from my rig better then the Zu and hearing the Zu making the music less musical and all frq.s bloated , mids and extremes .
I came appreciating it only after trying other cables ( the cardas is the one i.m.o. that suits better different kind / level gears and open things without detailing to much the flaws ) ; upgrading quite all my system gears ( Ic included ) for getting the sound closer to high-end level , only then made sense swapping for the Zu cable instead of the others .
