Okay, maybe I need to go back and try my MX500 again. I really wasn't impressed with them the first time. Maybe if I'd given them some more break in time I would like them more. I liked my E888 straight out of the box. They sound cleaner and fuller. I just can't wear them for long periods of time. The MX500, however, won't even stay in my ears. I ordered the EX70 today. I'll let you know how those work out. Hell, I'll probably be letting you know how the Etys work out eventually. lol

Hey, I just did the "duncan" mod (removing paper). Earlier i had done the Silent Cap mod. Now my 888s have BEAUTIFUL highs - but if i move them slightly around, i can change their sound to ALL midrange, ALL BASS (shoved IN), and a variety of other sounds.

The transducers in the 888s are certainly versatile....

I agree with everyone here, in a way. Say, the "boxed-in" soundstage of the 888, its tonal quality, the MX500 soundstage, and so on. The fit in one's ears will change the sound dramatically; and then with the 888, the variety of mods and burn-in you do will make a difference.

For non-audiophile listening I prefer the MX500 - whatever they did, it just feels right - but I only have one pair right now, and I wouldn't want to live without it (I'm relatively rough on my earbuds). They're NOT available everywhere

Here I am... trying out my earbuds and I realized how my next MD portable will not be a Sony. Actually liking 3.5+3.5mW Panasonics over 5+5 Sonys right now, despite those ARM processors Sony's been using...

P.S. I've always liked the new portable smell

Headphone extension cable

Can anyone recommend the best extension cable for HD600s. The only ones I can find cost about £5 and must be the weakest link in the music chain. Thanks.
