Thoughts/Impressions???

Hey guys/gals, we are moving through this tour at a nice clip and are three quarters of  the way done. Are there any more thoughts or impressions anyone would like to add to this thread or links to reviews elsewhere? Would love to add some value to this thread before we close out the tour.

I have to say that I was really impressed with this demo, especially the 8.2. Loved the H8pro for its ridiculously addictive mids, but the new 8.2 keeps that and nails it throughout the frequency range going deep and hard with smooth delicate and resolute treble. Really love the new hard hitting, deep, and highly resolving bass notes. Can't wait to get it back to hear it again. What are you hearing?

Cant wait to get my turn. I will compare them to the es60 and maybe the inearz refrance p450s if I have them back in time.

Initial impressions. I am absolutely in love with the 8.2.  For some reason in the original tour I was not particularly struck by the original 8pro.  I was much more interested in the music 2.  However, the changes that have been made in the 8.2 really have me hooked.  Truly unreal quality like nothing I have heard from an audio product. (Admittedly, my experience is rather limited).  I would be happy with a little more bass presence but I would not call these lacking at all.  Just wish I had the funds for a pair of these myself. Call me a fan!

I'm still relatively new to the hobby (so take my observations with a grain of salt), but I had a lot of fun trying out the universal 8.2 and the universal Ei.xx. I own Custom Art's 8.2, Ei.3, and Music One, so it was interesting to me how the sound signatures differed between them.

Random thoughts first: I'm happy to say that my custom 8.2 sounds exactly the same as the universal 8.2 (I had a very good fit with some of the silicone tips), so that means quality control is solid. Also, I tried switching out the stock cable on the Ei.xx with a Linum BaX (as was recommended by several reviewers), but I didn't hear any difference... I ended up sticking to the stock cable.

The 8.2 is a much more balanced CIEM, and it has some amazing and intimate mids, and I am very happy with its performance in all genres, but (I hope I don't receive a lot of flak for this)... I honestly preferred the Ei.xx for the genres that I listen to the most nowadays (J-Pop and rock). Perhaps it's because I've already spent a good amount of time with mid-centric and balanced CIEMs (Music One, then the 8.2) and slightly warm/smooth CIEMs (Ei.3), that the v-shaped signature of the Ei.xx is very new and fun to my ears.

I really like the bass impact (it's almost subwoofer-like) and the treble quantity (especially the sound of cymbals) of the Ei.xx, since I feel that those are slightly less prominent in the sound signature of the 8.2. Sure, there's a tradeoff in that the mids are less prominent in the Ei.xx, but I've already heard the mids of songs in great detail using the 8.2, that it's nice to see the bass and treble being emphasized for a change.

I also had one of my roommates try out both the 8.2 and the Ei.xx for a few minutes, and I asked him which one he liked more. He said he preferred the Ei.xx because "they just sound more detailed". I agree with him to a certain extent, and I guess more casual listeners (I still consider myself to be one) are more likely to prefer a strong bass response and treble quantity over beautiful mids (maybe this is the result of that Harman curve that was discussed on Massdrop).

The 8.2 is definitely the better "all-rounder", but the Ei.xx is a great complementary CIEM that specializes in some genres that benefit from increased bass and treble quantity. I'm definitely saving up for the Ei.xx now.

Barra, I met with a car accident here in India and have a dislocated shoulder. Given the situation, I may not be returning to US in the coming weeks and would like to drop out of the CA H8.2 tour.

Thanks,
EW
