LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread

Hi,

First timer in Head-Fi... (Lurking for extremely long though...)

Before opening my wallet...

Just want to ask how does the LZ-A4 performs against Trinity Audio's Phantom Master 4; Sendiy's M1221; MusicMaker's ShockWave 3; MaGaoShi's K3; and the new yet classical VSonic's GR07X.

And which filter combination will give off the most neutral/ uncolored/ analytical sound?

Many thanks in advance!

Blue Back and Black Nozzle is probably the most neutral/analytical

SW3 is more detailed, V-shaped and 3Dish.

Reviews with comparisons to the ones you mentioned should be coming soon.

Weeell Aliexpress screwed me, closed my order for no reason & never paid the vendor. If anybody wants to get paid via PayPal or Google wallet let me know, my luck with international orders is sh** lol can hook you up with a reliable vendor & willing to pay for the trouble , on a side note found a review on another site saying these had a massive profile, anybody mind posting a photo wearing these?

I find the A4 to be very comfortable and I haven't heard other complain about comfort either. Something like the ASG-1PLUS is considerably more bulky. If you're looking for multiple driver IEM's including dynamic drivers it's limited how small the can be.

PM4 vs A4 size comparison:

The A4's slightly larger but fit better in my ears due to longer stem, ymmw.

You can also check out my A4 review in here for other size comparisons.

Edit: check out the second post in this thread for link to pictures of me wearing them.

Penon is selling them for $195. No discount. Well worth it though. Why did they close it, you paid right? Follow my instructions in the pm and try again

Agreed, Penon is a great alternative if one's not comfortable with Aliexpress.

It's a disease. We're infected bad.

Man, I'm glad I'm not infected

Welcome to Head-fi and sorry for your wallet

A lot of those you like it compared with is really new (as is the A4) so might take a while before you see any comparisons. Fwiw the A4 to me is on a different (higher) level compared to the PM4, no doubt in my mind about that. Haven't heard any of the others yet unfortunately.

Hope this and the Xduoo X10 gets on Gearbest soon!
They have a shipping method to Portugal in which I don't have to care about customs..

Penon Audio and most Aliexpress sellers will also help you with this

Thanks for your comparisons on the LZ-A4 and TA's PM4! Really lost when there are so many IEMs out there... With this, I'm leaning more towards LZ-A4!

Thanks for replying! I'm really happy to be able have a idea on how the LZ-A4 stands against MM's SW3.
A 2 BA + 1 DD LZ-A4 versus a 4 BA + 1 DD SW3...
Prices from TaoBao, USD $185 LZ-A4 compare to USD $250 SW3 (w/ MMCX connectors)...

All this comparisons are just making me bang my head on the table all day long... And when I think kind of nailed it... A new competitor arrives... *FLIPS TABLE

So allow me to get straight to the question... In your opinions, is the SW3 worth the additional money compared to LZ-A4?

I have been away for way too long from this Hi-Res Audio enjoyment.

I know some seller try to help with this, but what do they do? They declare a smaller value on the package..
Portuguese customs are very strict.. If they mistrust the value on the package they open it and send me a letter asking for the invoice. So, unless the seller sends me 'fake' invoice too, this would be a bit pointless..
The method Gearbest uses doesn't pass through customs in Portugal (don't ask me how they do this)..
But thank you anyway for this information..

I'm sorry but unfortunately I've never heard the SW3 so can't help you with that. From what I understand though (from talking to others) the SW3 is brighter and possible more fatiguing on one side but on the other side would potentially be even more detailed and revealing as well. TwinACStacks should be able to confirm /answering this though since he owns them both.

I'm sorry that I couldn't be of more help on your question.

I understand, it's the same here in Norway. Fwiw Penon is the only seller that I've ever used that's able to deliver me stuff with DHL and I don't have to pay taxes....

lovehikki, I do not own the SW3 but have heard them. If you like a more bright sig then I'd say grab the SW3. If you like something a little smoother that still has a ton of detail with tuning options then the A4 definitely.

Listening to "Cloak and Dagger" from the Witcher 3 OST. Man it sounds crazy good. Beautiful separation, air space for each instrument and depth. Bass is deep with rumble but not boomy or overpowering.
