Todd, I need Black Foamies for ETY-COM

Etymotics doesn't seem to sell it, and they have not returned my emails.

I lost it, as it falls off really easily, but it's the only ear piece that fits comfortably.

Thanks,

Hi Edwood,

Sorry for the delayed response!!! The black foamies for the ETY COM are available and I will have them in 2 weeks. They are $15 for a pack of them.

Yay!

Do you have a link, or can you PM or email me when they are available?
I can't find it on your site.

How many are in each pack?

The lack of reponse from Etymotic worries me about future repairs or issues with my Ety's. Fortunately, no problems so far. <Knock on wood.>

*Edit, customer service was on vacation? Guess they never heard of an ""out of office" autoresponders?

Thanks,
-Ed

Hello Edwin:
Thank you for your patience. I just returned from vacation.
The black foam for the ETY-COM has been replaced by beige cone shaped foam part number ER22-13E.
A decision was made to carry this new foam eartip rather than the black foam eartip based on a quantity of customers who use foam eartips for their listening.
The ER22-13E is packaged 3 pair for $14.00.
The web site link to this headset accessory is:

You can purchase from our web site or call to place an order.
Thank you,

Just got this response from Etymotics.

So, there is a new cone shaped Beige Eartip?

Perhaps this will also be available as a new ear tip type for their other IEM's as well?

I hope the beige ones have a better grip on the ETY-COM itself.

Apparently, I am not the only to have lost their black foamies because of them falling off so easily.

Hello Ed:
The diameter of the new beige 13mm foam replacement for the black 13mm foam is the same.
The shape is a taper cone rather than a cylinder.
The insert that attaches the foam to the ETY-COM is now an injected molded part that fits very snug compared to our introduction silicone insert.
I believe you will have very pleased with the ER22-13E replacement eartips.
We have received a number of requests similar to yours requesting a volume control and other options.
I know the design review staff is looking into all of these requests for future models.
Thank you for your input Ed.

I suspect this is the same, or at least similar to the foamie for the ER6i, which is beige and cone shaped. I can try that one on the ER4 and get back to you if you like.

According to Etymotics, that is correct. I don't know if it will fit the ER4, but try it out and report back. Worth trying.

The beige tapered foamie fits fine on the ER-4. It is a little tighter fit on the stalk than the black foamie, but no at all so tight that I felt like there was any risk of damaging the stalk or the tip. To me the sound was indistinguishable from the black foamie. They are a bit smoother, and of course tapered so they go in a bit easier and my girlfriend prefers them with respect to comfort to the black foamie (which she used sometimes on my ER-4). I have had no problem with comfort with black foamies but tentatively at least (I would like to hear from etymotics on this issue) I would recommend the beige tapered foamies to ER-4 users who are not satisfied with the comfort of the tri flange tips or the black foamies. The ER6i and ER-4, as far as I can tell, use the exact same tri flange tips.
