(from Sensaphonic's website)

Do you have a universal fit model?
Currently, the ProPhonic IV is available in a universal fit with 2 options for ear tips-- a triple flanged silicone adapter and a foam adapter. We will be adding a universal fit to the 2X product line soon.

it will be interesting to see how much it will cost, because at a little less than the custom molded 2X-S, i can't imagine why somone wouldn't want to go all out and just get the custom molded 2X-S's...
What might be the deciding edge, is if it maintained a dual sound port (to elevate it above the e5's & er-4)

Still, the ability to custom direct porting on the 2x-s would remain a clear advantage over any universal unit.

See, that's where we're perplexed. You say "polite" as your first description - politeness is an inner quality. Usually when the first evaluation of a girl is an inner evaluation, it either means: a) you're unusually meaningful and deep, or b) she's no supermodel. Assuming (and it's nothing personal - it's in your genes) A isn't true, then it must be B.

But then you throw this monkey a wrench and confuse us all:

Now we just think you're holding out on us.

It's certainly for reasons closer to A. - and i must say, that is some interesting logic.

What I was referring to here, was the same thing that I mentioned in my first post. Nothing more, nothing less:

Having this other person around took the focus off of the "medical procedure" being done to me. i did not just feel like i was alone with some doctor, but rather I was with someone who was BOTH expertly trained and down to earth enough to bring her daughter to the meeting and let me meet her. This kept things casual and relaxed.

Maybe my experience was a unique one, but it was truly one of the most satisfying experiences I have had when it comes to purchasing a product.

The information regarding an universal fit version of the 2X-S has been there for ages, actually. You just had to really dig for it, that information was up there since I had the E5's.

Well, the universal fit would be an excellent option for many of us. Not just because it might be cheaper and because it makes the phones resellable.

I'd say the coolest thing about universal fit 2X-S's is that now we'd be able to audition them! No more "I've described it as best as I can, but in the end it's your ears", while the only way to try them was to buy them (w/ no resell opportunity).

In truth, the thought of a universal fit 2X-S makes me realize how screwed up the situation is for people who think they want them. It's pretty much unlike any other transaction, since you can't be sure you'll like them until after making the decision to get them, and if you don't happen to like them you're screwed.

I tried and tried to look for an analogous thing.... Hmmm....

I guess it would be similar to an arranged wedding with someone you've only heard about, and in a situation where divorce is impossible

And about the audiologist's daughter:

What if she or her mom happen to frequent this forum? They might be amused, but they might also be upset/hurt at being so objectified.

It wouldn't be all that unlikely, given that an audiologist that works with musicians *and Head-Fiers* is oh-so-close to "our world".

It's not like the chance that your granny from the old age home is going to visit the drug forum that you secretly frequent

Well, let me clarify on what I said earlier...

I remember seeing the information about universal fit 2X-S for a very, very long time now. Still, it's nowhere in sight... so I wouldn't be on waiting for it to come out. I mean, it could all of a sudden be there tomorrow, but I just wouldn't count on waiting for it.

Then you'll still have to wait for someone to review the universal version versus the custom molded version to see if there's any difference in sound.

It would be nice to have an option to have an universal version eventually... but I don't know if that's the best road for Sensaphonics to go down either. For example, if the universal version just doesn't sound as good, people might take that and think the custom version sounds just like it too, and dismiss Sensaphonics altogether.

Paid for my Sensa's yesterday and now have to wait for up to 2 weeks befor they arrive.

At the gym a few days ago and tried on a friends Bose headphones (new to headphone spotting but he tends to buy good stuff ) and was very impressed with the sound compared to my E3's. Hope the Sensa's are up to expectations

I checked this out months ago. I emailed specifically about this universal fit and I got a terse reply from Michael Santucci to say that universal fit was for demo purposes only and they had no intention of selling them retail. Sounds a lot like they did intend to at one time and the Sensaphonics website could do with a spring clean.

As a matter of fact, when I called sensaphonics and spoke to Julie about changing my color from black to clear, as soon as I told her Vicky did my molds she asked me if I had written any recent posts on head-fi...yes indeed.

So people at Sensa definitely check these forums. Aside from just wanting to be polite myself, this is another reason I did not get into too much detail with my answers to some of the questions I have been asked.

Oh, but I was using the impersonal "you", I wasn't referring to *you*

Besides, I didn't even know there were drug forums!!!

Don't worry- we won't tell Vicky about the comments re: her daughter!

Website is updated - there are no universal fitting products for the 2X line. Sorry for the confusion.

Also it seems strange that there are no prices on the Sensaphonics website.

Incidentally I am in the UK and i had a bad experience with very slow and unhelpful email responses from Sensaphonics a few months back. I decided it was futile making an order with Sensaphonics and went Ultimate Ears who have a far superior email response. However things seem to have improved a lot recently with the arrival of Julie. I think i now would have the confidence to order Sensaphonics but i have now blown loads of money on Ultimate Ears, which i regret as UE-10s are more for Ety fans and Sensa 2X-S are more for Shure fans (which i am).
