Sorry, shameful plug here.

We just finalized and released our IEM upgrade cable. I had been working on consolidating our IEM cable line up for a while and with the new Reference 8 cable it comes in MMCX as well as 2 pin, balanced and unbalanced. Its supple, light, feels and sounds wonderful. All of these we cryo treate, the full finished cable for that extra effort. Its a blend of OCC copper and SP copper, our in house BE copper MMCX parts.

Thank you!

Ken

Nice, been waiting for it...
How would you rate it compared to SXC24? Or In other words, how does it compare to SXC24 sound wise?

Cheers!

I concur with Ken that the Reference 8 is a great cable, and is now truly my "reference" cable for my K10's (2-pin, 3.5mm TRS version). Cheers

There is no shame in that plug Ken!  It should arrive here on Monday according to the tracker. Is it messed up that I ordered one before I saw your post on Head-Fi?  I spend too much time perusing your site on a daily basis because I believe in you like Darth Sidious believed in Anakin and we all know how that turned out.

In all seriousness though, it was the helpful reviews of @mscott58 and @twister6 that convinced me to take the Andromeda and Vega to the next level.  Thanks!

Fantastic cable!  Been using it with W80 and Andromeda

Even so I clearly stated in my Andromeda review how much I like stock SPC Litz cable and there is no need to upgrade, Ref 8 does add to soundstage depth and refines the sound of Andromeda (I hear bass being a little faster and tighter and upper frequencies having more transparency).  So glad to hear you are also making 2pin version, would be great to test it one day with balanced termination.

Another important thing people have to realize, this high quality premium cable cost a lot less in comparison to other premium cables.  Never thought I'm going to say this about the cable, but Ref 8 definitely got a great price/performance ratio

Ah Ken, I really wish you'd offer your cables with a 3.5mm TRRS option as well. I started out with a GOV2 and as a result every connector/cable/adapter I've gotten since then has been 3.5mm. And it seems like a good amount of portable balanced gear uses 3.5mm TRRS (although frankly it's a total mess out there between 2.5mm, 3.5mm, the new 4.4mm, mini-XLR, and Kobiconn).

Yep, I've already had this exact conversation with Mr. Ball as I too have some Geek gear (with hopefully more coming - fingers crossed we eventually get our Geek Waves!).

Best option I've found is to 2.5mm TRRS and then us a 2.5mm TRRS to 3.5mm TRRS adapter (I had one made). This also allows me to use cable to play balanced out of the CDM.

Cheers

I would consider that if I didn't already have what feels like 50 adapters sitting around. Plus I have a balanced MMCX cable from Impact Cables which sounds very good. Additionally 2.5mm plugs are more prone to snapping. I understand why some manufacturers don't like 3.5mm for balanced, because it's too easy to put the wrong plug in a given port, but it would be nice to have the option.

Agree again. I've actually been one of the people who has broken a 2.5mm TRRS. Also have a decent-sized box full of adapters from across the years. Kind of embarrassing really...

geeeeee how these sounding buddy? Congrats dude! What is your source?

zx2 as source

they sound simply amazing as many ppl said here, a very good 3d soundstage.

the andromeda is very good for zx2, not power hungry. even when i use it with my idsd micro, i don't need to turn the knob too much for the volume to hit my listening level.

VE (home of Monk earbuds) sells every possible adapter combination for $5: https://www.veclan.com/engappliance_sel_one?eng_ApplianceVo.eac_id=4 - select 2.5mm TRRS to 3.5mm BL and you are set!  Regarding good amount of gear, unfortunately it's HiFiMAN standard, used in their daps, which only been adapted by GeekOut and Cowon (in Plenue S), as far as I know.
