I'm looking for an amp or amp and DAC setup for games only, on PS3, PS4 and Xbox One, with main concern on positional audio.
I'd like to use it with a mic (I have Antlion ModMic). I'd greatly appreciate volume control (and chat control, but I don't think it's much of an option for me).
I'd like to not spend more than 300 USD / 260 euros, but I can go up to 420 USD / 370 euros.
I already have an Astro MixAmp Pro TR, but it doesn't work properly with a game (BF:BC2), hence why I'm asking for other recommendations.
My headphones are ATH-AD700X and Fidelio X2. Which one I'll mostly use I don't know yet. They're recent purchases, and I haven't been able to test them out much in BF:BC2 / FPS games.

Objective2 and Schiit amps and DACs are not sold in my country.

Any chance the audio setting on the gaming console are not setup correctly?
You would enable Dolby for surround sound and set for Stereo (2.0) for simple 2-channel audio.

"Input Device" and "Output Device" are set to "ASTRO MixAmp Pro" in "Audio Device Settings", and "Optical Digital" and "Dolby Digital 5.1 Ch." are selected under "Audio Output Settings" in "Sound Settings". "DTS 5.1 Ch." is not selected. I'm connecting my PS3 to my MixAmp directly with a TOSlink optical cable.

I don't understand what you mean in your second sentence.

DDL (Dolby Digital Live) is what Dolby uses to compress digital audio, for passing more then 2 channels of audio, thru optical.
Not sure what the exact DDL setting is for each brand of gaming console.
Assuming your gaming console use "Dolby Digital 5.1 ch" for enabling DDL

But if you did not want headphone surround sound, then you would want to use a setting different from "Dolby Digital 5.1 ch".

I didn't have a preference when I bought headphones. I forgot that the settings are set to Dolby Digital 5.1.
