I am new here so I was curious what you guys consider the top 3 headphone companies based on their entire product line for headphones.

I will add AKG and remove Sony

So does this mean that Sennheiser is the #1 headphone company?

I'll take Sony R-10, CD3000 over any of the "normal" Sennheisers anyday.

Of course there is the Sennheiser Orpheus and Baby Orpheus.

I'm assuming this question means:
You buy a random pair of headphones from ___ company, what are the chances they are going to be good (price/performance) .

in terms of quality throught their entire line:
Grado
Sennheiser
AKG or Ety.

I was curious which 3 headphone companies have the best rep with the experts, based on overall product line and not based on one model.

audio-technica
beyerdynamic
sennheiser

I'd say:

1. Grado
2. Sennheiser
3. AKG

Sony gets a special mention here because they have the most headphones in their lines, even though most of them underperform others at each given price point. And Stax gets a special mention here, because of their uniqueness (they make only electrostatic headphones, and no dynamic headphones at all whatsoever).

I would go for Beyerdynamic, Grado and Ultrasone.
These companies can be safely assumed to make nice headphones throuhgout their product line.

Beyerdynamic and Ultrasone are both underrepresented in the audio press, which is why I didn't include them in my list.
