Audeze SINE Series

How well does Sine hold up to other closed portable Headphones such as Focal Classic or even portable headphones below the 499 price?

They are my favorite portables...check my profile to see what I have heard. I will say at a comparable price, it comes down to a sound signature that you most enjoy. I have had more comfortable I have had less comfortable, I have had better isolating I have had worse isolating and so on. It is about finding your happy spot or in my case temporarily as a rule I don't hold on to things long. The Solar are the longest I have had an IEM and the Momentum M2 are the longest I have had a headphone. I switched to the wireless M2 so I have a wireless. I pretty much have kept the M2 as I cycle through others, not that there aren't better, but again they check many boxes for me and now I only use them as my wireless. I focus mostly to find the best portables I can. I don't like to be tethered to a desk. The AK T5p are awesome sounding close cans, but they have caveats. They are not very portable, at least by my criteria and they really shine with an AK source. Those two things and price count them out for many folks. I have interest in the Ether C but they don't meet my portable criteria, but I will probably get them anyway.

Wow! Rhapsodio solar iems look fantastic and the AK T5 look great.

Hmmm would M2 sennheiser compare vs Sine. I assume sine are more neutral

Do tell more about this zero distortion metal you speak of..? Can something with zero distortion still be metal..?

Should have said, no distortion at high volumes :)

I'm a metal head - I love distortion at high volumes!

Sorry about that.. Would you mind elaborating a tiny bit on what kind of metal you listen to and what you enjoy most about it through the Sines? Are you an analytical listener or do you like to lose yourself into the music, so to speak? Or do the Sines allow both..?

Cheers, Emiel

Yes, they are quite different. TH-X00 is more fun, slightly V-shaped, powerful bass. Sine to me is very balanced, have thicker mids and overall smoother and cleaner than TH-X00. I liked the bass on TH-X00 better, but I think Sine has better sound quality all around.

That said, after wearing Sine for a week, I felt like home when returning to TH-X00. In the end, TH-X00 is much more comfortable due to the full size design and thicker earpads, while Sine making my ear hurt after a while (a bit better now though than when it's new). I think both do compliment each other and was a great headphone to choose depending on the mood that day. Sine is also more portable, so that is the headphone I'll take when I'm travelling, but at home, I know I'll reach my TH-X00 more often. :)

what a drag, eh? can't we have just one pair of cans to do it all?..be musical, resolving, detailed and yet have great bass slam?
i know, i know..maybe it is impossible...and 'a great pair of cans' is also so subjective.
i ski and with having 3-4 different pairs for different conditions, ie, ride, dampness, flex (etc) then you'd think i'd 'get' it, too
when it comes to also having multiple cans/iems for audio.

I think Sine and TH-X00 are both very capable all around headphone, it just that when comparing them, we can notice the differences. Some trade-off here and there, some part greater than the other, but in the end, nothing is really terrible in these headphone. :D

And of course, it's always good to have excuse to own more headphones. Haha :)
