Coming to California - wanna meet? :)

Well, IDF in San Jose is coming up at the end of August - and Intel has invited me. In addition, I'm going to help Daniel Wolff, who is building up CHIP Online USA in San Francisco, for a few weeks. So, all in all, I'm going to stay in the Bay Area between 25.8. and 30.9. - maybe a good chance to meet some fellow Headwizofiers in the area. Anyone interested? I think that could be fun - and of course I'm just plain curious, too...

Greetings from Munich!

Aw, man, I wish I was going to be out that way, Manfred. I'm sure it would be fun to meet you.

Anyone else here from the Metro Detroit area?

I think Wing , KurtW and Music lover lives around there (bay area). But not sure, just going by the threads I've read

Dont forget to bring along your *nosebuds* and have them properly *plugged* so when the headwizfiers meet happens, they will know who you are from distance away

Tides is correct, there are several of us including those mentioned that live in the bay area around San Jose. Maybe we can try to do another one of our get togethers while your here; we had a good time during the last one. Jude, any way you can arrange a business trip here around that time too?

KurtW,

Man, I wish there was a reason for me to be there when Lini's there so we could all get together, but it's highly unlikely.

I'll ask again: Is there anyone here from the Metro Detroit area?

lini,

Any way you can bring over a bimmer for me when you come?
I could host the meeting again but I have a strong suspicion that you guys will be much more impressed and have a whole lot more fun at Kurt's place :>. I can offer to bring my MG Head which is starting to fall apart slightly (details in a coming thread) and a tweaked MF X-DAC.

Wing, Tides, KurtW: Yes, a meeting would be nice, if you can arrange it at that time. But: What is a bimmer? I don't know this word - and Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary doesn't know it, either...

jude: No chance for a little trip to California?
jude - chicago is close to detroit.....

and i'll come to the california meeting as long as some one, some nice, generous head-fier pays for my travel, boarding, eating, and "miscellaneous" (read as: Type R MD deck, 200+ CDs, RA-1, RS-1, CD3000, candy) expenses.

bimmer: aka Beemer. BMW. Automotive car brand. "the ultimate driving machine"

If your seriously considering getting a BMW, consider the European pickup package. You spend a couple weeks with the car in Germany before they ship it over to you residence. All the arrangements are made through your BMW dealer. A Z3 3.0 on the Autobahn *drool*. =D

If I were old enough to drive, and if I were *rich*, then I'd travel to Europe and pick up a 1999 Lotus Elise, one of my fave cars. ("Only" about $33,000 US.) Then I'd buy/rent a place in Italy and set up a nice home theatre system and -of course- a portable rig.
I love talkin about this kinda stuff

There's a Lotus Elise with an Integra Type R engine that is available and street legal in US.

hongda, kurtw: Oh, actually, I already had three BMWs - a 520, a 525e (both manual shifting) and a 325e with automatic transmission (the Eta-engine was great!). I enjoyed driving all of them, but I also had an old Mercedes 250 with automatic transmission, which was very nice. BMW kills you with service and part prices, though - even Mercedes is cheaper. <sigh> At the moment I have a '94 Honda Accord 2.2i (automatic transmission, once again ) - the largest (~ 4,70 m) Accord Honda ever offered over here. It's only got 4 cylinders and sounds a little harsh compared to the 6-cylinders I had before - and I don't really like front wheel drive, although it's better for driving in winter. Nevertheless, I think my next car will be smaller - maybe a Renault Clio or the new Mini, but it's hard to find a small car with automatic transmission and acceptable acceleration...

chewy: Of course, I will. Oh, not quite - during the first week it'll be "Greetings from San Jose!", and the next four weeks it'll be "Greetings from San Francisco!". Well, probably - provided I catch the right plane...

Greetings from Munich!
