Burn-in time for MS-1's?

I'm sure you guys get enough of these burn-in topics but I searched around and couldn't find much info. I heard that they take about 20 hours but I've listened to them for about that much now and haven't really heard a noticable difference. The highs don't seem as harsh (although that's probably just me) and I haven't really noticed a huge improvement in the bass which still seems too laid back, I'm just not feeling the punch. Any idea how long it might take before I start seeing some changes? Thanks.

A while... I'd wait 48 hours before using them at all. It takes time for the top to smooth out and the bass to come around.

took longer than i thought

around 100 hours the ms1 seemed to open up more detail cleaner, louder, more accurate, much better bass, more mellow highs had been listening all along and then one night it just hit like out of the clear blue sky ,all i could say was now i know what all the hype was about. and the rest is history have been a happy camper ever since.

I`d say around 100 - 150 hours, but that is just my preferance.

i had about 40 hours on mine before i put todd's flats on - and maybe the cans just decided to "burn in" the exact same time as the flats were put on or something lol - but these cans DEFINITELY ramped up the slammin' bass, and smoothed out the highs - NO "grato" sound - and they always had sweet mids. so give it time and some flats and they'll love you back.

Most of the Grado headphones that I have own took around 50 hours of burn in time before they settled in. Some however take longer.

My SR60's took about 50 hours too, and the PS-1's I would say the same. After 50 hours there was little difference in the sound.

fwiw, imo my ms-2s sounded very different at 0 and 100 hours.

Crap, I think I may have played them too loud or something (didn't seem like it, there wasn't any distortion or anything) and now I hear crackles every now and then. It's not much but annoying as hell. Argh.

I always think tens or hundreds of hours of burn-in in fact doesn't truly, really break in phones to the completely broken-in final stage. Short period of usage, no matter how intense, is not supposed to be able to loosen up the diaphragms. I think for something like tight new diaphgrams to truly get loosened it really takes accumulation of use and time. It's something that cannot be done quickly. I have had my ProMedia for over 1.5 year and they are still not fully broken in yet. The sound is still clearly improving and getting clearer.

Ditto. The sound changes within first 100 hours (or so) a lot.

From both drivers? Anyway, look for any hairs inside the driver's mesh first...

Yes, but they're only minor and only present in some songs. For example, Symphony X's Smoke and Mirrors sounded surprisingly clear at 128kbps while when I put on Karma Police by Radiohead I heard crackles in the piano. I guess it's only in certain frequencies but it can still be irritating.
