mikeg said he will decide as it gets closer. Hopefully, Wayne will be able to make it. He certainly has other issues to deal with at the moment. Stevieo from MD is a definite and he has r10's that he will bring, if needed. Set up on Friday night should not be a problem. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. Did you guys share a couple of rooms last time? There is an Amersuites nearby. I will get some prices and post. The hotels on the beach, which is 20 minutes from me, are pricey. Unless I hear otherwise, I will assume you guys will be staying near me.

I'll keep this very short. They are very smooth sounding. Treble toned down so not so good for rock but have a magic about them that makes them better than mark 2. I use them with a '89/'90...

I think we will stay at a nearby place (not necessarily cheap - it has to be safe too you know
) and drive around wherever necessary. Cheaper to spend on gas than on an expensive hotel room AND gas
Food is not a problem...we eat anywhere...I had the fortune of seeing a restaurant that was dirtier than the WORST Dhaba in India
This place had peanut shells all over the place...and it had some pretty women too...
The food was awesome and the waiter was an moron
LOL

I can host a couple of guys in my apartment. I live about 20 mins driving distance of Tyrion's home, and I have a decent place to crash for the night. The only caveat is that I don't have a lot of furniture, so a sleeping bag or a sofa (I should have one by meet time..
) would be the most I could offer. Any and everyone is welcome to stay at my place, as long as you don't mind my rather spartan living space.

Any hotel near me is safe. It all depends on how much you want to spend. Raaj is not to far, so some may wnat to take him up on his offer. Those that prefer a hotel, pm me as to budget and I will figure something out. I will provide food for the meet.

For anyone who would like to hear this equipment, I'm willing to have a mini-meet at my home in the near future; i.e., once the equipment is burned-in a bit. I expect to receive the SDS and Denon by mid-October. As for what I can bring to the meet (if I'm still welcome, despite not bringing my best equipment), I can bring my K1000/ASL amp/SA8260 SACD setup, an HD650, and an RS-1/RA1 combo. I'm can also bring anything else that's listed in my profile, that anyone wants to hear.

I can understand mikeg's reservations and concerns and I am happy to say that I am within driving distance of his home should he extend an offer to me to visit and check out his new gear.
That SDS needs a Humvee to transport it...not a joking matter.
Enough and more R-10's anyway...
A pure K1000 setup...now thats something we dont see very often at HeadFi meets. I am sure this will be a welcome addition to the gear list for this meet.
mikeg - more than the gear - it is the people...this, I sincerely feel, is the difference between Florida meets and other HeadFi meets. People from all walks of life getting together and having fun. Experiences that I have had will be cherished for ever...I have photos, videos and mental images of the meets that I have been to...each one different and each one interesting.
From meeting Raul and Wayne - no idea what they would look like or how they would behave...meeting everyone else...probably scaring everyone because of my resemblance to a Saddam cronie...getting to know people deeply and not just putting a name on a screenname.
I would enjoy it just as much if there was no gear and just people chatting and having fun.
But lets not take things too far now shall we

Let's keep this thread hopping! A little over a month left. I have Grado SR-225's now, and an EMU 1212m in my computer. I'll most likely bring the computer and a small monitor so everyone can hear how this FOTM (year?) really sounds. Also I will probably have a TON of FLAC music by that time
Other than that my MPX3 will of course be in attendance.
Tyrion: Any hotel information will be appreciated. Close & cheap is great for me. Not sure how many will be riding with me, but it could be me, Guru, RSaavdra, and Ph34rful carpooling down there. I'm sure the four of us could survive on 1 room but maybe 2 would be better. Sleeping on the floor makes for a bad drive the next day.
Is alligator alley the best way down there from Tampa. I've taken state road 60 to the turnpike before when headed to West Palm and it's a nice drive. Need to look at a map to refresh my mind on where Davie actually is.
We can definitely plan on coming Friday night and setting up. Guru had said something about Thursday but even if it's just me & him on Friday we should be ok setting up.
Ok that's all I can think of. Grados rule!

Matt, I should have a monitor available for you to use if you bring your computer. I will check on prices at a some nearby hotels Wed. after I am back in town. There is an Amerisuites nearby which maybe be perfect. I will check on prices and pm you. 75 south to Alligator Alley (continuation of 75 south) is the way to go. 75 south continues east into 595. My exit is off of 595. Davie is about 7 miles west of Fort Lauderdale. I recall the trip from Tampa is about 4 hours.

We are almost 1 month away from the meet. Amerisuites in Plantation is $99/night with two double beds and sleeper sofa. It is about 3 miles from my house. La Quinta is $89/night for 2 full size beds. It is about 2 miles from my house. Wellesey Inn is $70/night for either King and sofa bed or 2 double beds. It is about 2.5 miles from my house. These are the closest, safest and most reasonable. There is a Sheraton Suites and Renaissance Hotel very close but they are pricier.
