Has anyone taken a look at these? These look interesting. Wonder how well it's gonna match up to the other in ear phones. 270 bucks is a lot for sony earphones.

oh, I thought you bought them and were posting about it.

so far I believe I'm the only one here that has taken a listen with the MDR-EXQ1. (although not enough to really form opinions on them. at the time they were only known as the earphones for the QUALIA 017.) there have been several threads about them already and most of what can be discussed short of one of us actually having a pair and giving feedback on the product has been done.

I'll be buying a pair the next time I go to japan. too bad they announced it after I came back about a month ago, or I would have had one already. they cost less than $200 from the QUALIA stores in japan. (21,000 yen with tax)

well... the MDR-EXQ1 is marked up a lot by audiocubes in my opinion. most of the other items are not really too different from the prices you see at audiocubes, bluetin, and other sites like those. they are usually a bit cheaper though.

the ATH-A900 can be had for 16,500 yen if you go through a mail order company in japan and around 20,000 yen at most of the large electronics stores. you'll have to find someone willing to buy it for you and ship it out.

thats 150 bucks. Damn now i really want some.... too bad i'm already broke after my hd600, mg-head otl purchase. I'll have to save up for now. Maybe sometime around christmas. So how do you do the thing with the mail order? Do i have to be in japan to order them? My mom is friends with two families that live in japan. Maybe they would be willing.

Holy. That makes me think, how much are the w1000's there? Cause by christmas i'm sure i'll have around 500 at least... minus the 150 i still owe my parents from hd-600's. Wow what about cd3000's. Have u read the group buy thread for that. I doubt its going to work for 250. But if they somehow do get them for 250 dollars, I will do everything in my power to get enough money for them.

check the prices here. they list prices from many japanese retailers for quite a few headphones. hopefully you can navigate around it, being that it is a japanese site.

i got my a900s for 17900, even though it has a 202000 list price.

i think the w1000 have a 44000 list price.

those numbers are in yen btw.

I don't think the ATH-A900 has a 202000 yen list price. that's almost the price of an ATH-L3000.

I'm going to be stumbling around osaka sometime in the not so distant future. Where to buy Stax 2020? How many Yodobashis in the kinki region? (if I decided to just get CD3000)

plunge

Perhaps I will take the plunge shortly. I live in Tokyo and in the mkt for some portables. Sony has been good to me so far, CD3K, R10s and others. But I will demo first with my iHP the intended source, with&without a modest portable amp. If noticeably more pleasing to me than the AT and the much less expensive MDR-EX71s and comparable to the Shure E5s, thks Jason, just demod, then will happily take the plunge regardless will share my views. Albeit briefly.

One, in Umeda(Osaka).

Sony says first batch of EXQ1 is sold out (in a day or two, I heard) and second shipment (due 8/End) is all taken for back orders. They don't know when the next shipment will be.
