Firstly, I'm writing in my own capacity as Joe Bloggs the head-fier. I'm wary of posting anything on behalf of FiiO today, as I've been all thumbs breaking everything in the china shop these two days in that regard
With that in mind, however, the following does concern events that transpired while I was acting on behalf of FiiO, specifically what happened between me and Brendan regarding the prizegiving of the new slogan competition for FiiO.
Firstly, I may have overreacted to his writings and reacted to a casual throwaway remark regarding legalities as though it were an immediate substantive legal threat. The result is the subsequent announcement of cancellation of the competition, which was then reversed by FiiO management in favor of giving out the X7 to Brendan.
Brendan also noted that he became a subject of bullying on this forum after my cancellation announcement because it mentioned the legal threat as the reason for the cancellation. This was very far from what I intended to happen and I'm sincerely sorry to Brendan for any abuse he may have received over private messages as a result of my announcement.
Finally, Brendan has indicated to me that he may intend to donate the proceedings from this contest (and any further sum we may be able to raise here) to a charity, instead of receiving it himself in the form of the X7. If this is so, I can at least speak for myself that I'm more than happy to use the money I was supposed to pay for his X7 for such a charity donation instead, in payment for my blunders.
There is more that Brendan would like to say about this situation from his end, however he has indicated that he will be too busy over the next few days to compose what he wants to say here. Thus I am posting this thread, firstly to defuse any hostility towards Brendan.
In short, I ask that all head-fi members refrain from disturbing Brendan in private while we work to bring a positive end to this contest.
