That is interesting to know. I wonder what is happening? Maybe an issue with Android  Lollipop? What OS do you use on your phone?

I'll email Tidal & Onyko see if there is a reason why there is an issue with the App on DP X1

Nope, not a Lollipop issue. I'm actually a reviewer, so I go through phone after phone (Android). The DP-X1 is the first time I've seen this issue.

There is a thread on Onyko about this issue...... Year later and still no Firmware update I guess?

Hello tony1234, All issues regarding playback from a third party app are being looked into currently. Our head engineers in Japan are aware of the issue and working on a firmware update to address these issues. Thanks, FM9

That's awful. Good to know that they at least acknowledged the issue, didn't know that.

"I've heard that if you set Tidal to use the internal storage it resolves a lot of the static issues. Besides that, try to not use High Gain and it should be less apparent." - except there's only freakin 32GB on-board storage!

Onkyo dropped the ball on this one.

Tidal offline is also reported to be working correctly on the iBasso DX200 further reinforcing that it's an Onkyo / Pioneer specific problem.

Is the issue addressed? Has anybody tried to contact the manufacturer?  Do they read this thread?

Only way to contact Onyko support is through the forums. If you read the thread. You can see that they are aware of the problem.

There are responses to questions on the Onkyo Facebook page, but I have no idea whether the people responding are the ones who actually know what's going on...  :-)

so i finally got my balanced cables from PLusSound....i seem to find the that with the balanced cables [using shure se846]  soundstage seemd to be a bit "wider" , more depth,....what i seem to be missing to be missing is the "louder" part.... i read somewhere that when usig in balanced mose music will get louder so if you are used to say volume level of 130 in single ended it should go down when using balanced ..... this did not happen for me.... both with balanced out and ACG...... i actually expected more from balanced out as the manual sais with ACG volume levels will be about same.... so what gives?? why didnt i get louder playback sound in balanced ??

ACG mode is the the hardest to drive headphones through because 2 connectors are used as ground.  But Compared to Balanced, to me ACG sounds better.

Balanced mode in general will have more difficulty driving your headphones, so what's happening is normal I think.

Overall, between unbalanced, BAL and ACG modes, to me ACG sounds the best, but it's the hardest to drive of the 3.  I have 2 or 3 songs that are recorded at such low volume level, I have to go all the way up to 130 volume to drive my Ether C's.

Besides that, everything else is fine.  There are  a few gain settings for the amp as well, I havent tried those, but they might change the drive strength.

i've been to the LG V10 thread and they also claimed that the V10 has occasional skips/pops when listening to tidal in offline mode with files saved on SD card. Also read the same thing on the X7 thread. Also experienced it on my X5 3rd gen, though very rare (could also be bec i dont always use the X5 iii)  The latest tidal update seemed to have addressed it on my dp-x1, though not sure yet listened to just around ten songs, will check again later.
