Nice impressions, I agree with most of it too.
They sound incredible after a year of non-stop use :)
I have a backup pair in case SONY ever stops making these beauties.

Ultimately these headphones have saved me money because they are so on point in many areas I don't need to look further.

Hi guys
Even though I love the headphones, I am trying to sell mine off (Turquoise) because my headphones collection has become too large to handle. Plus trying to finally start my open back collection. Anybody interested can pm me.

I have had these now for several months and I used them mainly on city walk-abouts.
Overall I think Sony cut a near classic with these - except for one short-coming - that of soundstage.
These are physically great, durable and neat. Perfect really. The cable is cool and the right length. The pads are nice and soft and surprisingly comfy but if you have very big ears there might be a problem.
The tonality is really well balanced. They respond really good at every frequency but are never fatiguing. Bass is the best and most enjoyable but keep in mind that I am a classical and jazz person, craving low levels and dark places in the universe.
The official frequency response says 5 - 60Khz and sure enough are actually a lot detail but at lower levels. Not a bad strategy! So the only problem is lack of soundstage - they are a little boxed in. You are not really aware of this until you do a side by comparison a better machine - which for me is always the immortalized Shure SRH940.. In the first 10 minutes after getting the Sonys I put back on the Shures and said "oh dear oh dear...."
And I knew this was going to be the big problem for the Sonys - they just don't have the sheer breath and excitement of the mighty SRH940s. Thats not a reflection on Sony its a reflection on Shure. I just can't find a pair of cans to beat them without going north of €500.
Having said all that I can't help thinking that if Sony were to take these cool cans, increase the cup and pad size to, say 20% bigger, they might create a new champion of the street. But I might be wrong.
Still there is no question that Sony have broken a lot of ground with these cans.
So recently I splashed out real cheap got the Takstar Pro80 as well as matching them up with a set of red Brainwavz pads (which by-the-way look wicked cool) and for the first time the Shures are almost matched with the Pro80s being even more enjoyable in some aspects.
How ironic it is that I am spending less in order to improve sound. But thats where its at for the moment.

Hi everyone!
I've found the 100aap at my local eletronic store for 99€ (im italian) so i'm considering of buying them but after a quick search i discovered that now sony released the 100 abn (wireless version) and after that seems that the 100aap become really hard to find in the stores.
My question is.. WHY?
They are almost new on the market so the lack of avaiability is because the 100abn are replacing them?

Yep, noticed the same thing, even amazon.it is no longer selling it (only third party sellers have them in stock). I really hope sony didn't cut the production on these headphones...

(anyway, is it mediaworld tho store you're talking about? cause on the online store they go for 89  )

Yeah, i'll do the same, as the viridian green isn't available online, but they have two pairs at the store.

And excitingly, this:

Amazon.it had the 100aap for 79 euro a few weeks back, might want to check there too instead of mediaworld.

So Sony made the greatest headphone for less then 150€, made an incredible amount Of advertising (think at the permanente banner on Amazon in the headphone section for example) and now he dismiss it, After less than a year?

MAH!

I don't get Sony either. But the 100abn isn't killing off the 100aap because the abn is wireless and noise cancelling so pretty much a different target audience.

I am totally PO"d to see the 1000x released though. The 100abn is less than a year old and they drop the 1000X now. Why not just wait until they had 1000X perfected if thats the case. It's like they put out the 100ABN and let the consumer guinea pig test them confirm their lack of design on the microphones and then release the 1000X with proper wind and water protection on them. Very frustrating to say the least...

Meh, i just received a mail from mediaworld (it's part of mediamarket, so a quite big company, present all around europe) that says that the viridian green 100aap won't be restocked in the future (and so i would expect the same fate will befall on the other colours too). Seriusly, what the hell is going on? These are truly amazing headphones, especially for the price.

I guess i'll have to hurry tho the shop and get my pair as soon as i get this mon'ts paycheck...
