Agree with you @Uncle E1 I love the leaner ZX100 over the bassier NWZ-A17. If zx2 is like that bassy mmm I'll keep my ZX100 , soundstage is superb and let alone that, DETAILS, DETAILS, still has way to  "improve" (burn-in period)

Sometimes i am underwhelmed by ZX100 but it is at times, and then improves with a surpise, burn in (never heard this crazy burn in not even with my A17)

Wild Burn-in is the reason I'm leaving my beloved songs to be heard Last, i do the same with food or candies, eat the stuff i don't like first and leave the GOOD stuff for the last moment

I bought mine from AccessoryJack and I got this problem. I just put a request through their website since yesterday and still haven't heard anything back yet.

Any idea how long would it take for them to reply back? Also would Sony in Canada accept to repair this if I bought it outside of Canada?

No, you are wrong....ZX2 is not bassy....it is tonal "Density" it is the efficiency of the quality detailed conversion from the design into the quality Analog current of audio quality into the headphones.

This tonal Body renders vivid appearance of the drum type, sizes, and the applied force from the percussionist when played.

No, it is not bassy.

Ah yes! That was why I called "Density" biggrin.gif heavier and thicker, but not boomy or bangy, excellent and definitive textures for sure.

Sony and Cowon are thick but detailed, AK can be thin.

I was listening to schmelzer Victori der Christen... very nice airy presentation of the zx100

In 1683, Turks attacked Vienna, and the sonata's several sections depict the Turkish advance, siege, and assault on the city, and the response of Christian forces, leading to the expulsion of the invaders. An imaginative listener might claim to hear not just battle music but also cultural stereotypes in this sonata. However, before making that claim, he or she should know it is unlikely that Biber had any such program in mind when he actually wrote this work. Instead, the "Victori der Christen" (Christian Victory) Sonata appears to have been adapted from Biber's music by Johann Heinrich Schmelzer, a Viennese contemporary of the Salzburg-based Biber. (Biber's original sonata was part of a series in which Christ's passion was represented, but that is a different story.)

I can hear all the deep bass of the hamber organ and while the violins remain clear.... i think zx100 is also thick but not sooo much as @Whitigir says of the zx2

Agreed, and it is not easy to get the Opamp chips to sound with more density, thick body biggrin.gif. That is why I freaking love my ZX2, no Opamp, pure fluidity from Class D design. Guzheng sounds so emotionally realistic !

Have you compared with the ZX100, @Whitigir ?

( I really enjoy my Sony F886...instrumentation, sounds so "live" & "real". You can really "feel" with the Sony DAP's.....I only own one other DAP...Fiio X5ii...which I enjoy & has all the detail....but not quite that Sony, live, real, feel.

I wish I could, very curious about it. But I don't have any loaner unit for comparison wink.gif. And you are correct, the density within each tonal body, Sony does excellent job biggrin.gif. That was the main thing why some people prefer ZX2 than AK240...even 380. It heavily depends on what you pair it with though. For example, warmer, thicker DAP better pair with brighter headphones. Brighter flatter DAPS better be paired with warmer thicker headphones....Z7 for example. Then your taste and decision will do

Me too....I was tempted to order one from Amazon U.K. ( but the price went back up today. ) If I read any feedback, that it's as good as, ( or very close ) to the ZX2, I think i'll be tempted to pull the trigger....
