Is there an expensive Grado/Sennheiser hybrid sounding headphone? - Page 2

The ATH-W100 has transparency that is off the chart, esp. in this price range. And the bass is wonderful.

Look at Tomcat's review for comparison with the Beyers.

Hey Violeta---

try the 250-80s. I heard them and was highly impressed. Nice upfront sound and very well developed bass. Comfy and sturdy as well! And they're about half the price of the 931s and are more easily driven (be sure to get the 80s though).

violeta88: No, no, not the DT250/80. According to yourself, you like your phones on the brighter side. The DT250/80 isn't - but the DT250/250 should do the trick. Or the open DT531, which I'd prefer...

Fine phones the 931s, I use mine with my portable rig, yes they
are rather open for portable use but I just spend time scurrying
from one quiet place to another hehe

Hey all,
I've actually decided on the DT250-80's. I want headphones I can use with a portable and I am also intrigued by the idea of a slightly dark headphone which is also detailed. Variety is the spice of life. My 497's for fun, my 250-80's for relaxation (while still being in the music). Plus I even like the way they look. They look really sturdy.

Just thought I would mention that you can get the DT931 from Jan Meier for only $170. That includes shipping I believe. I am seriously considering getting the DT931/Corda Head amp combo he has for $460. Seems like pretty good deal to me.
