I have been lurking these forums for a while reading dozens of threads but now that I am close to a decision I would like to ask for some personal advice.

Massdrop has just launched a new drop for the Bayerdynamic DT990 which at it's lowest drop point will be $240.  I am really interested in using these cans for 80% gaming (Primarily non-FPS games) , 20% listening (EDM, Hip-Hop, Alternative).  I have considered/researched many other alternatives but I find the $200-$300 price range to be the sweet spot for bang for buck and the purpose I need them for.  Would these be a solid choice for my purposes or am I better off with a similar alternative like the X2 (Which I have heard nothing but great things), AKG K7XX,  or Sennheiser HD650?

On a side note, if I do pull the trigger on these, what would be the best suited DAC/Amp to go with them? I have heard a range of opinions on what would pair well with these such as the O2/ODAC.  However, I have read that these pair better with a tube/hybrid amp and maybe I am better to go with the Schiit Vali/Modi or something else out there...Any advice is much appreciated and I look forward to becoming a member of the community.

Thank you!

Some people like tube amps to calm the highs on the DT990s a touch. Some people don't.

Have you seen this gaming headphone guide?
