Oct 16, 2016 at 11:53 PM Post #1,741 of 2,544
I love my cocobolo omnis.... but they would love to be paired with the Zmf amp. With all the Atticus/eikon excitement, I hope the amp has not been shelved. Does anyone know if the Zmf amp is still on its way? Until then I will just have to enjoy the great pics everyone keeps posting!

Not shelved, just not ready.  Soonish.  =)

So... If we wanted to get a tube amp in preparation for the arrival of our soon to be released Atticus (Atticii? Atticusses?), should we wait or... ??

It's an unfair question, I'm sorry. I'm trying to redirect the Atticus anticipation into different things.

Should be able to have them arrive "around" the same time.  But yeah I can't commit to a specific release and arrival date yet as we made some final changes to optimize them for the dynamics and planars and are finishing up the first production batch for testing before making an official announcement.

I just eargasmed, and I'm not listening to anything. Thanks!

Edit:. Yeah, I know. Thanks for making it weird, Falkin...

I am spending my Saturday listening to some blues with my Omni.

These are so much fun to listen too.... killer bass and fantastic guitar tone...all with a treble that is
so non fatiguing but yet very detailed. Can listen to this headphone for hours.

Zach....you have these tuned wonderful and I am liking them more every time I hear them...thanks again.

I miss my Omni. Such a fun headphone. Anyone out there try it balanced with a Jotunheim? I really liked how the original Mjolnir brought out the bass tightness and slam.

Yeah, it's loads of fun.

Just received my Buma Paduak Onmi. They are absolutely gorgeous, and I've been immersed in Bach's glorious Well-Tempered Clavier (András Schiff on piano in 24 Bit FLAC) for the last hour. I know this music so well I often get a bit of musical ADHD by the 7th or 8th prelude / fugue set, but today I can't take them off awaiting what splendors the Omni will reveal in the next. Once I stop drooling and am sure a bit of my euphoria isn't just new toy syndrome, I will offer some more in-depth impressions. For now, I will just mention that initial listen allays all 3 of my initial concerns:

1. The bass while very present is clean and does not spill into the lower mids.
2. Treble is nicely extended and while it may lack a small bit of air and sparkle, it is oh so entirely musical and non-fatiguing.
3. Yes these are heavy, but weight is very well-distributed and comfort is excellent with the ZMF Omni lambskin earpads and pilot pad secured around the headband. I do note a little bit of movement with head motions which perhaps I will try to correct later (should I gently bend the headband inward?), but it doesn't affect seal / sound and I am too busy smiling now to initiate any modifications.

Hey all, we are going to change the name of the Omni, to be named by a head-fier as part of our contest.  We are changing not because I want to, but uh, well, there's more info here:  http://www.head-fi.org/t/826711/the-zmf-omni-name-change-contest-and-sale

You can also win one for free if you win the naming contest!

I know ZMF burns in their headphones for 30 hours. Do they need additional burn in once received?

It sounds really good out of the box, but it does tend to sound better after about 150-200 hours.

Thanks. That is what I thought based on most audio seeming to need 200 hours burn in.

Yup. I typically just leave music playing through gear continuously for a week straight and it is usually fully cooked.
