So I drove on a local road yesterday and strangely the traffic was blocked and I noticed a fire truck, ambulance, and a couple police cars. Slowly, I drove up and saw a small car was hit and wow, the back looked like an accordion as it was smashed inwards from the rear probably by a much larger vehicle. The little car looked like it was beyond repair. Total bummer for those involved.

I used to live in an area previously, where car accidents were common. I remember a few years ago on a rainy day, I drove past a car accident scene where an SUV was on the side of a road and it looked like it was hit by a missile! Holy crap! Driving by some of these car accidents can look like train wrecks of massive destruction.

I crashed my car once in high school when I was speeding in the rain and spun out of control. It was bad but fortunately I was not hurt. Now I drive the speed limit and am very careful.

Yes, but still it's the other guy you have no control over. I will never drive again with my Father-in-law as even for his age he drives crazy. If the other guy shows up in his way, we have no reaction time left over.

True. I always wear my seatbelt and hope that the airbags will always be on guard. There is also a campaign going on where I live of anti texting and driving.

So three days ago I see this guy on a motorbike with a 12 foot bandsaw blade wrapped around him like a hula-hoop. Where I live there are no driving laws. No roads to go fast either.
The blade was about 9 inches tall and pointing up. Lol

Even though I love cars and driving, I am looking forward to the day when all cars are self-driving. In my vision roadways become like a giant train, except that each car is independently powered and they are held in line inches from the other cars only by the computer and magnetic fields. Picture a giant swarm of vehicles - the worlds largest NASCAR pack, all moving at tremendous speeds. When a car needs to enter the pack, the computer brings the vehicle up to speed, then smoothly separates the pack and slides the new vehicle into a perfectly sized slot. There is no need to overtake other vehicles because the entire pack is moving 150+ MPH. There could also be multiple lanes, with each lane moving at a different speed. If you have a long distance to go, then the computer slides you to the left lane for maximum speed. If you will be exiting soon, the computer moves you to the right lane for a slower exit speed. All lane changes are handled with the absolute minimum of slowdown by decoupling and then closing the ranks once you have been moved to the right. Since there is no wasted space between cars, the density of cars on the road can be much, much higher, yet there will be no traffic jams or slowdowns. Well, I should say that there will be no traffic jams until the master computer network becomes self-aware and decides that the optimum efficiency can only be achieved by killing all humans...

I've heard of the idea of self driving cars that's being considered and maybe in the works. There is a part of me that thinks it's a great idea especially for long distance road trips like a weekend getaway to Vegas.

One my fears is falling asleep at the wheel. And yes it has happened to me last year. Fortunately, I hit a curb and it was minor damage since I was not driving fast. You do not want to fall asleep at the wheel.

"Budget cuts will have no effect on national defense."

Somehow the guy who's crotch is strapped to the front fender looks to have the worst job of all of them. I am slightly sure that mask is a mussel containing any yelps due to any large road bumps?
