IEM Care + Expected lifespan?

Hello!

I'm concerned with how i should be taking care of my iems (Vsonic GR07 Classics <3). I keep it in the bag it came with together with, unplugged and coiled over under style, my sansa clip + is kept in the pouch too. I wipe it down after use (I live in Singapore, where its really hot and i sweat a lot) and leave it to dry when not in use on my desk. How long can i expect it to last this way before cable degradation or anything happens? A year or two? Also my previous iem from Audio Technica had the cable start to degrade and become sticky... Is there anything i can do to prevent that or is it natural after 2 years? Is there a need for me to buy a hard case to keep my equipment in to extend the lifespan and if so any recommendations?

I also own a ATH-M50x, Sennheiser HD201 + Fiio E3.

I think if you're using them under such extreme conditions a hard case is the better option than soft pouch.

Take a look here at some cases people use: http://www.head-fi.org/t/457874/iem-cases

(for example, compact camera cases work well)

Those who can afford it owning many CIEM use dehumidifier cabinets, though that's quite an expensive piece of equipment.

As long as you don't bend the cable entry points into the earbuds or the plug excessively they should last a long time. The standard cable on the 07 is quite high quality, better than most other stock cables I've seen. I've never really seen them deteriorate.

Unfortunately what is far more likely to happen after about 12 months is a driver failure, which VSonic are notorious for - and is rarely due to user error. Thankfully the GR items last a lot longer than the cheaper VS ones, but consider yourself lucky if they last 2 years.

Long story short - just enjoy them. If they fail, it would have likely happened anyway - regardless of what you did.
