In my initial dealing with my scout, I meticulously mounted the gasket and clam each time. I was rewarded by the wonderful sound of my cartridge skipping like a lamb in springtime. This was particularly the case with non-audiophile pressings which had more warpage. On Immtbiker's suggestion I decided to NOT use the clamp with dramatically improved performance with no perceptible loss in overall presentation. A big relief. Why the devil did the good people at VPI not see this or am I doing something wrong?
