Mr Speakers Ether

Looking forward to getting my pair. I liked what I heard at axpona particularly with the cavalli amp he was demonstrating the ether with. So I preordered a pair I was lucky to get in on the first 50 preorders so I am getting the dum cable upgrade bonus. I watched the video of dan clark  talking about the ether he seems to be a pretty regular guy. Judging from the sensitivity the ether should be a pretty easy load for amplifiers. I hope my concept 16.5 monster vintage receiver is not too much amp for it. The concept works great with my older pre fazor audeze lcd2 v2s .

I wonder if Addicted to Audio in Australia will stock these and have them for demo. They have the Mad Dog and Alpha Dog, but skipped the Primes it seems. Auditioning these would be a high priority for myself if they ended up at that store.

Looking forward to the impressions vs the HE6 and LCDX.

They will definitely be stocking these and you can be sure they will do their best to provide a demo pair. They had a demo pair from Dan for the staff and a select few to trial not too long ago. I've expressed my interest in a listen at the A2A store when they arrive around June.

LOL The review doesn't actually start until the 12th paragraph, more like a blog.

Everyone's been raving about the ETHER and Cavalli Audio Carbon pairing so I jump on the bandwagon too, but I also have a HiFi-M8 which is more than capable for the ETHER. It has a powerful amp and the bass/treble tone controls that doesn't contaminate the mids which will satisfy my needs if I want more bass punch and treble extension. If you want a transportable dac/amp that can compete as a desktop setup I'd recommend checking out HiFi-M8.

That's one amp I haven't considered. In the mean time I will be using an LCD-X it should be a good pairing given that they are similar in efficiency to the Ether. I'm just a bit concerned about how well it would pair over an actual full-sized headphone amp since that's what I really need. Thanks though, will definitely try to see if I can get one to compare with my current amp.

As long as we're throwing out names of random amps, these are what I'd (like to) try if I had the cash:

- April Music Stello HP100 MKII
- Auralic Taurus MKII
- HeadAmp GS-X MK2
- Schiit Ragnarok, Mjolnir, and Lyr 2
- Garage1217 Project Ember and Polaris

I'll be using the McIntosh MHA100. Dan let me grab one of his prototypes at the NY/LI meet the other week. Like they were made to be together. It impressed me so much I pre-ordered a set (upgraded cable and tee shirt offer helped the decision)

As I have a Maddog 3.2, picked up an Alpha Prime at the meet's auction, and now the Ether ... I have to admit I must be a 'Dan fan'. I like the way he hears and translates that to how he voices his headphones.

DAN needs to get into the IEM game! perhaps a bio cellulose diaphragm combined with V-planar! Muahahahaha!

If I can have an Alpha Prime/Ether voicing and resolution in an IEM form factor it'd be the end game for me.

Dammit! I stayed away from Head-Fi for 5 years to save my wallet, and then come back and pre-order a pair of Ethers!

At least I got the last pre-order pair with the upgraded cables.  Yeah, I'll keep telling myself that.

Is there a help group for Head-Fi members? This is such a love/hate relationship.
