he-440i versus oppo pm3 versus nad hp50

Thread Starter

Hi i have the hp50's and am considering a planar headphone, i am interested in the pm3 or 400i and would like to hear from anyone who has actually tested any combination of these against each other - i am not bothered about isolation or leakage for this but like warmth and detail rather than thin and analytical/sterile.

i will be using a (pink floyd) modified x-can v3 (vinyl system with tubebox se11 phono amp) or a beresford capella/caiman 2/laptop/x5 using foobar/fidelizer (digital)

Any thoughts would be interesting.

heard both, but never had a chance test directly against each other.

they both will be work for your stated requirements. they are both quite close to neutral, detailed, and have nice bass quality. both shld have enough bass quantity satisfy someone who likes the hp50s sound sig.

the first planar that pops into my mind when someone says they want really warm & detailed would be the pm1. the pm2 has basically the same sound if u upgrade their earpads for those on a budget.
